Soap & Glory Winter Wonderhand Gift Set

Coming home to surprise post is one of the most exciting things!
I was recently totally and utterly surprised by the lovely people at Soap & Glory with a few of their Christmas sets and I couldn't wait to show you all.
Soap & Glory have got to be one of my favourite beauty brands ever.
Since stealing my Mum's sexy mother pucker lipgloss as a teenager to using their new Sugar Crush hand gel every 5 minutes - I don't think I've bought a product yet that I don't love!
One the my most re-purchased products I've had over the years is the Hand Food hand cream. The gorgeous non-greasy hand cream which I think all of us beauty lovers have had at one point or another.

So how amazing is this .... a gift set with 3 50ml Hand Food tubes and it's called Winter Wonderhand* ... #genius - I love seeing what names S&G come up with each Christmas.
Aswell as the original scent you also get the Sugar Crush version (my favourite) and the Smoothie Star version - which I don't think you can even buy on it's own.
This is such a lovely gift idea - and for only £8 it's a bargain!

Biore Self-Heating One Minute Mask Review

It's beauty review time once more!
If you've read AYBB for a while you probably know how partial I am to a pampering session - I love a bit of 'me' time.
The number one thing on my pampering list is always a face mask and when I spotted these in the clearance section of Boots last week for only £1 I just had to have them! (Usually priced at £7.99 I got a right Barry bargain here!)

Self-heating masks are probably my favourite kind of masks - I near enough always use the Montagne Jeunesse/7th Heaven sachets so I was looking forward to trying something at a slightly higher price point.

You get 4 sachets in the pack - a good months worth for me as I only tend to do a mask once a week!
What's special about about this mask you ask?
Well.... the clue is in the name - it only takes a minute! (*girl... to fall in love, fall in love.* - sorry Take That moment!)

Anywho - yes!
This is a one minute mask - all you need to do is dampen your clean skin (I usually do this just as I've take my make-up off so my face is still wet) and pop the mask on with your fingers, your skin must be wet as the mask is activated by water!
The warmth along with the natural charcoal ingredient help to open up your pores and draw out deep down dirt, oils and impurities leaving the skin feeling soft and refreshed.

As you massage the sachet over your face the warming is activated and you can feel your skin getting a deep, healthy cleanse.
After just a minute all you have to do is wash the mask off with warm water - the mask does not dry.
This was so super easy and I found that the mask, unlike others I've used, comes off so quickly and effortlessly leaving my skin feeling completely rejuvenated.

The size is actually perfect, most of the time when I use a sachet mask I only use half or 3/4 of the mask and because they tend to be a bit messy I always chuck the rest away. These sachets are slightly smaller than normal but the actual perfect size for a one-use mask.
The consistency of the mask is fairly thick until you mix it with the water on your face/fingers which makes it thinner and easily to massage across your face.

Scent wise.... I have a bit of blocked nose at the moment haha so didn't really smell anything to be honest!

I'm really chuffed by the how well this worked and how handy they are - for the price I got them I'm blown away.
Perfect for a quick fix me up, you really do only need a minute.
My skin hasn't felt this cleansed for weeks - I'll definitely be using the rest of the packet on the lead up to Christmas this year to insure flawless skin.

Weekly Round Up #1

1. & 2. Mockingjay Part 2 | 3. J-Law Hair Goals |  4. Pinterest Loving | 5. Being Positive | 6. A New Read | 7. Trying Protein Treats | 8. New Blog Set Up | 9. Finding Dory Trailer

1. & 2. Finally it's here.... and I don't know whether I'm happy or totally gutted about it! I've been a Hunger Games fan for years - I started reading the books in like 2009/2010 so it's been in my life for a while now and for the movie's to now be officially over it feel like the end of an era!
I went to see this on Thursday night and surprised my bestie for her birthday - she thought she was heading for a date night with her husband but me and our other friend were there waiting for her! I LOVED the movie - although I clearly knew what was going to happen I was still on the edge of my seat, so tense and so emotional! Incredible. (I also had a popcorn treat which was bloomin' delightful!)

3. So I'm heading to the hairdressers on Thursday.... and this is the photo I'm going to take! I asked on Twitter last week if I should head back to the lob or keep on growing my hair and like 78% or something said lob so people... I'm listening to you! I'm thinking super blonde, about an inch off and maybe a couple of layers to give it some texture.

4. Oh my golly gosh I am so addicted to Pinterest again! Sometimes I worry about going on there as I think once I'm on there I will fall into the hole of Pinerest and not escape for at least an hour - I love it! Follow me here - KirstieLouiseS.

5. I've been trying to feel alot more positive recently and ever since changing my diet  I've been feeling alot happier with everything and I'm getting super excited for 2016 and everything that could come my way!

6. After doing a spot of shopping recently I was about to walk past the magazine stand when I spotted Women's Health. Since my recent life overhaul I've been so interested in health and fitness and have been loving having something else to read through other than cosmo - how amazing does Natalie Dormer look!!

7. I've been trying lots of new snacks recently - my previous chocolate and biscuit addiction is long gone and I've been loving trying out alternatives. Trek's protein original oat flapjack is awesome - obviously I've only been having like 1 or 2 a week as they aren;t an everyday thing - I love Holland and Barrett and their range of different things to try.

8. Yes! I have a new blogging set-up! I mean the way I take my photos is still pretty much the same I just now have my on little set in my spare room and it's so handy I love it! I can store all my blogging bits in one place and finally feel a little more organised.

9. Last but not least.... it's here! The Finding Dory trailer is here! I mean anything Pixar is exciting in my eyes but I think we've all been waiting for this trailer since the movie was mentioned years ago! Bring it on.

Favourites Rediscovered

With my slight beauty addiction (slight...I say...slight!) it's quite impossible to use everything all the time.

It's always fun stumbling across an old favourite and fallen back in love with it and recently I seemed to have fallen into a deep hole of them.
Such an awesome hole in fact that I obviously, being me, wanted to write a post all about them!
 Hugo Boss Deep Red Perfume
This is such a high school classic for me! I LOVED this as a teen and a few years ago I asked for a bottle for Christmas..... which I had kind of forgotten about if I'm totally honest - until last week.
Deep Red is literally the perfect winter scent - I've been using it everyday and I have been getting some many questions about it! This is going to be my go-to for the rest of the season!

Collection Little Mix Perrie Lipstick
I'm not going to lie.... I have 3 of these. 3. Sat in a drawer! I bulk bought them when they first came out as I was so scared they were going to be limited edition that I didn't want to run out as I loved it so much.
Such a gorgeous purple (and they were a total bargain at just £2.99 each!) - I can't believe I'd forgotten all about it - I can safely say there's one sat in my handbag now!

Indeed Labs Hydraluron
I actually repurchased this recently as I got it for an amazing price.... half price in fact! I love this serum, I pop it on every night before moisturising and it leaves my skin feeling great, especially in this horrible climate at the moment!
The only reason I had stopped using it was because of the price so I will be making this tube last as long as I can.

Nivea Refreshing Toner
Ooooo this is a drugstore beaut! I just love the scent of Nivea products and this had been shoved to the back of my skincare for far too long! I hate the feeling of my skin without toning - it's like a must-have refreshing step for me after cleansing!

Have you stumbled across an old favourite recently? It's crazy how much stuff I forget about!

Amika Hair Oil Treatment Review

What did we do before the days of hair oil?

Over the last few years I've tried my fair share of different oils - from top of the range to drugstore bargains. I've got my firm favourites but am always up for trying out something new and today I'm going to be talking about the most recent one to have been popped onto my dressing table.

Amika are an independently owned boutique company straight of out New York who have recently become available in the UK! *Cheers*
Their cool and funky range contains everything from styling products to deep treatments and each product from them is infused with a range of fab, unique ingredients ready to help your hair become healthier than ever.
The 60s style packaging gives it that extra bit of cool and helps it stand out from the ever-growing crowd - I love the fun and colourful vibe.
This oil treatment is something you can use on a daily basis.
For me I love to pop a fair bit through the mid-lengths to ends of my hair when it is still damp and sometimes once I've finished styling, it's also great to inject a bit of moisture into those dry ends at this time of year.
Full of Amika's secret ingredient Obliphica (Sea Buckthorn Berry) this stuff strengthens the hair whilst feeding it with much needed vitamins and nutrients.

The scent is fairly strong but I'm a big fan of it, it reminds me of a certain perfume/aftershave but I just can't put my finger on it as to which one!
The oil itself is fairly thick compared to others I've used so I have been using a little less than I usually would, which can only be a good thing right? I mean this 100ml bottle should last me months and months!
The only probelm I have had so far with this stuff is the dispensing.
The bottle comes with the plastic stopper on the top, with a tiny space for you to pierce a hole in. I did this but it was useless.
Because the oil is fairly gloopy it just took forever to get a decent amount out (even after increasing the size of the hole!), so I've decided to take the stopper out and just pour the oil out instead.... a little risky but SO much easier - really a pump would be the best option.

The formula penetrates the surface of the hair to help seal split ends and improve shine and elasticity and I've been loving the last few weeks of using it.
Anti-frizz is something I HAVE to have in a product at the moment, I don't know what it is but my hair has been so much drier and frizzier than usual and I've been trying everything to help it get back to how it used to be and I have to say this has been so helpful.

For a 100ml bottle this stuff retails at £21.95 - a little more than your bog standard oil from Boots or Superdrug but like I said, you don't need alot so I can see this lasting for months on end!

Overall I've been really enjoying trying this out and it's made me really intrigued to check out the rest of the products in the range - especially the shampoo and conditioner!

World Kindness Day with Cotton Traders

'Have courage and be kind." - Cinderella 2015

One of my favourite Disney quotes and one that I think is easy to actually live by. Kindness is something I've always tried to uphold, I mean come on, it's not hard is it?
Last week it was World Kindness Day.... did you know? You may have spotted it on Twitter! A day dedicated to kindness, love and our ability to put a smile on someone else's face.
Cotton Traders recently asked if I'd like to join their #WorldKindnessDay campaign - spreading the word and encouraging everyone to get involved with committing a random act of kindness not just on the 13th but throughout this whole month. Obviously I was straight on board and want you guys to be too!

As part of WKD (haha wkd!) Cotton Traders were lovely enough to send me a box of kindness - which I have to say has put a huge smile on my face. It was like they knew my favourite things and popped them all into a box - cosyness all round!
This included thick knitted socks, a hot water bottle, a gorgeous mug and some yummy teabags just to mention a few bits.
With the weather being so poop and having some early morning starts at work these things have really been perking me up when I'm home.
There's nothing more relaxing than being at home all cosy and warm with a nice cup of tea - Cotton Traders really hit the nail of the head when thinking up this kindness box.
10 Easy Ways You Can Commit A Random Act Of Kindness This Month:
  • Compliment a stranger
  • Invite your friends/mum over for some tea and cake
  • Share another bloggers post with your friends/family/followers
  • Donate to charity - whether it be money or some unwanted items
  • Give blood
  • Make someone giggle with a funny picture or video
  • Have a clearout of those things you don't use and offer them to friends (I love doing this with all my beauty products)
  • Buy someone you love their favourite chocolate bar or snack as a little gift
  • Offer to babysit for a friend/family member so they can go out
  • Have a chat with someone who looks/seems a bit lonely, maybe a customer at work or someone in your supermarket?
It doesn't have to be anything extravagant - just something to pop a smile on a face, it's often the smallest of gestures that make the biggest difference. (Plus it makes you feel good too, knowing you've made someone else happy!)
Want to share your act of kindness with us? Just use the hashtag #CTWorldKindnessDay and tell us what you've been upto! Maybe you could even make your own kindness box to give to a friend or family member?
