January Beauty Favourites 2016

Monthly favourites are here once more ... it feels like forever since I've talked about what I've been loving.... in fact it feels like forever since I actually sat down, relaxed and wrote a proper blog post!

I've split my favourites this month into two post - beauty and non-beauty. First and foremost of course, it's the beauty bits.

Liz Earle's Skin Tonic has shot straight back into my skincare routine this month. Hands down my favourite toner/general face refresher this always clears my skin up and keeps it feeling super clean post cleansing.

I use it twice daily, once before I pop my make-up on in the morning and once in the evening before bed, it is THE best!

Earlier this month I decided to have a huge beauty clearout - there's only so many products one person needs and my over-flowing storage had become enough. So it was goodbye to bags full of unneeded bits and bobs and hello to those few things I had totally forgotten about!

This Lancome Juicy Tube was one of them.
Caramel Gospel is the most gorgeous shimmery brown nude - I've been pairing it with a No7 lip liner to create a gorgeous opaque nude daily - such an easy look and it smells SO good, just like toffee!

Bee Good's Hydrate, Smooth & Prime serum*  is something I started using back at the end of last year. Since then it's slotted itself in nicely with my other daily essentials giving me a lovely fresh base to start with every morning. It's said to target to signs of ageing.... which I definitely need... fingers crossed it's working!

Now onto a product that I completely used up this month - which in my life is a BIG deal! I Had to repurchase my Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer this week as quite frankly, I couldn't live without it.  This creamy light concealer is perfect for hiding my horrible bags. I love using this under and around my eyes and round my nose, it definitely helps on the 'radiance' side too! (I use the shade Ivory.)

Last but not least.... yes only 5 products this month .... we have my favourite perfume.

I wrote about Thierry Mugler Angel a couple of weeks ago and it's still tip top of my most favourite things to use every day! I only have the 15ml but can tell it's going to last for month I'm so, so impressed with it!

What have YOU been loving this month?

3 Beauty Products Worth Splashing Out On

With the millions of different products out there in the beauty world it's hard to know what's worth investing in and splashing out your well-earned and well-saved pennies on.

I'm a girl who most of the time uses your bog standard everyday drugstore brands and products - but there's a few things I have bought or been given as presents that have lasted the test of time and, for me, are worth every single penny.

1. Expensive Perfumes

I have lots of different perfumes - from Taylor Swift to Armani - and I'm not saying that the amount you pay makes the perfume scent any better or any worse in most cases.
But from experience with my higher end price tag perfumes I really do notice the stay-time, the amount used and the compliments alot more.
With just a couple of squirts from some of them I'm set for the day, which in turn means that they last alot longer, none of this applying twenty times a day malark!
Sometimes splashing out on a scent that you really really love knowing it was last is better  than buying bottle after bottle of a perfume you go through quicker than your iPhone battery!
My favourites are Angel, Alien, Si, Flower, Modern Muse Le Rouge & Miss Dior.

2. Straighteners

As much as I have tried other straighteners, (and don't get me wrong I've liked other straighteners) my heart will always lie with my original ghds.
I have had this pair of ghds since I was 13 or 14 years old (I think I got them for Christmas 2003) - I am now nearly 26 and I still use them every.single.week.
They are the greatest beauty investment you can buy - I will tell you that now! Yes they are over £100 but I mean....so far for me that's less than £10 a year - a very worthy price for something so loved and used.

3. High End Eyeshadow Palettes

How many times have you looked at an eyeshadow palette and fallen in love.... but then seen the price tag and immediately written it off as a no-go.
If you're anything like me then this happens all the bloomin' time!
I tend to forget how long my higher-end make-up lasts me.
For instance my UD Naked palette has been in my collection now for about 3 or 4 years and it's still going strong - even though I've used it for my eyes nearly everytime I've done a full-face of make-up.
It's my go-to, my holy grail, and even though it retails for nearly £40 after using it for so long and still having so much left - the quality speaks for itself, well worth the investment!
I'm now looking at maybe grabbing the 2 or 3.... thoughts? opinions?

Let me know what you've splashed out on and haven't regretting below in the comments!

My New Everyday Perfume : Thierry Mugler Angel Eau De Parfum

For Christmas this year (last year?.... 2015! You know what I mean) I was lucky enough to be given 2 Thierry Mugler perfumes that I had been wanting forever - Angel & Alien.

My mum has been wearing Angel pretty much since it came out and I've always been such a fan (stealing sprays when I can.... hahs sorry Mum!) Until now I've just had the Glade Honey & Chocolate candles at home constantly, they have such a similar scent - warm and sweet they make everything smell amazing.

Angel has now become my everyday perfume. The sweet smell of vanilla, chocolate, honey and patchouli is strong but not overpowering and with just one or two spritz' the scent stays on all day.
Normally with perfumes after a couple of hours I find even if others can still smell the fragrance on me I can't smell it on myself anymore but with Angel I can smell it all day which I love.

I only got a 15ml bottle for Christmas - which sounds tiny but I was surprised by how big it was - I was picturing a little tester size! I've used it everyday so far and it looks like I've basically used none - I can tell it's going to last for months and as soon as it runs out I won't might picking up another.

If you haven't smelt Angel before I highly recommend you go grab a tester soon - it's not to everyone's taste but if you like warm, sweet scents (or chocolate) you might just find yourself a new favourite.

Clutch Bag Essentials & Giveaway

It's coming to that time of year again. Christmas parties, family gatherings and that all important New Years Eve.
Most of these occassions will include a cute little dress, a nice pair of heels and of course.... a clutch bag!

Now I have a list of things I ALWAYS carry in my clutch - no matter what time of year or where I'm going - if I'm on a night out... these things will always be in my bag.

1. Tissues

I have to carry tissues wherever I go..... I think it's just the dreaded thought of having to go for a wee without them haha, believe me they have come in handy many a time on a night out!
2. Anti-Bac
Yeah.... I'm not leaving the house without this stuff! My favourite at the moment has to be the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush hand sanitizer, it smells amazing.
3. Eyelash Glue
I'm such an eyelash fan on a night out - I don't feel complete without them! I HAVE to take glue with me though, the thought of one flapping around and having no glue to fix it really scares me, so I always have one packed.
4.Small Purse
How cute is this little Minnie Mouse coin purse! I don't like to take my huge wallet out with me (and normally it doesn't fit along with everything else in my bag) so a small purse it always a must.
5. Lip colour of choice
Whatever shade I've picked - I've gotta take it with me! All those drinks sometimes rub it off so re-applying because a regular occurrence this time of year.

(Obviously my phone and keys are in there without question)

Last but not least.... 6. my Travalo! I can't even think how many times I've talked about these since I started blogging - it was even a blogger that made me buy one in the first place back in 2011, they looked so handy and I was about to go travlling so it was a must-have. Your favourite perfume with you anywhere and everywhere 24/7 - perfect for us girly girls!

This is where the exciting part of the post comes in.

Yes! I've teamed up with Travalo to give FOUR of you the chance of winning one of their can't-live-without atomizers!

There are 2 original Travalo's and two Milano Travalo's up for grabs (the colour of your choice... subject to availability) and all you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter below - the perfect little treat just in time for Christmas!
Good Luck you beauties!

Favourites Rediscovered

With my slight beauty addiction (slight...I say...slight!) it's quite impossible to use everything all the time.

It's always fun stumbling across an old favourite and fallen back in love with it and recently I seemed to have fallen into a deep hole of them.
Such an awesome hole in fact that I obviously, being me, wanted to write a post all about them!
 Hugo Boss Deep Red Perfume
This is such a high school classic for me! I LOVED this as a teen and a few years ago I asked for a bottle for Christmas..... which I had kind of forgotten about if I'm totally honest - until last week.
Deep Red is literally the perfect winter scent - I've been using it everyday and I have been getting some many questions about it! This is going to be my go-to for the rest of the season!

Collection Little Mix Perrie Lipstick
I'm not going to lie.... I have 3 of these. 3. Sat in a drawer! I bulk bought them when they first came out as I was so scared they were going to be limited edition that I didn't want to run out as I loved it so much.
Such a gorgeous purple (and they were a total bargain at just £2.99 each!) - I can't believe I'd forgotten all about it - I can safely say there's one sat in my handbag now!

Indeed Labs Hydraluron
I actually repurchased this recently as I got it for an amazing price.... half price in fact! I love this serum, I pop it on every night before moisturising and it leaves my skin feeling great, especially in this horrible climate at the moment!
The only reason I had stopped using it was because of the price so I will be making this tube last as long as I can.

Nivea Refreshing Toner
Ooooo this is a drugstore beaut! I just love the scent of Nivea products and this had been shoved to the back of my skincare for far too long! I hate the feeling of my skin without toning - it's like a must-have refreshing step for me after cleansing!

Have you stumbled across an old favourite recently? It's crazy how much stuff I forget about!

I'm Loving... #25

Weetabix Crispy Minis Chocolate Chip
Oh dear. I'm kind of addicted to this cereal!
I have literally been having it every lunchtime - they are so yummy.... I definitely don't think I've been sticking to the recommended 30g portion either, opps.

Taylor Swift Taylor Perfume
I used to wear this perfume all the time but my bottle ran out months ago now. So I was so overwhelmed when I friend of mine treated me to a 100ml bottle that they had lying around. I've been wearing it daily for work - such a lovely fresh scent this is going to last for ages too!

Being Organised
As you may have noticed - when it comes to blogging I have done a totally 360 this past fortnight.
After a couple of months of being totally stuck and in a rut I feel like I'm in my blogging groove again and I have loved being so organised and on top of things lately.

Blueberries
I can't stop eating them. I just wish they weren't like £2 per punnet!

Scream the TV Series
I started watching this when it first came out earlier this year, but once my handy online source went down (naughty naughty) I kind of left it and thought maybe I'd watch it somewhere else one day. Well that day came as it's only gone and been put onto UK Netflix! I'm onto episode 7 I think and I'm loving it - I'm such a fan of the Scream series so it's cool to see a new take on it.

River Island Pom Pom Beanie
You may have spotted this on my Instagram last week - I bought this cute little beanie from ASOS and I LOVE it! I can't wait for cosy winter evenings when I can just chuck this on not have to worry about my birds nest hair!

Beauty & The Beast Nightie
Yes, it's so cute isn't it! I got this from New Look a couple of weeks ago and have been living it in each evening - I just wish I'd had it throughout the summer because right now it's a bit chilly to wear it on it's own!

Bold Lavender & Chamomile Washing Liquid
Haha - this is sad isn't it? But I just really like how it makes my washing smell AND it was on offer #winwin

Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On
I've been using this on days that I haven't been putting any make-up on and it has given my under eyes such a refreshed feeling. Bye bye bags and puffiness, I'm always so impressed with Botanics products.

The NEW Travalo Milano

Travalo are a brand I've spoken about countless times here on A Yellow Brick Blog. I have been using their original spray bottle for probably 4 years now and I think they are one of the greatest beauty products out there - I'm constantly recommending them to people!

If you aren't quite sure what a Travalo is then I will go ahead and explain for you now...
Travalo is an easy peasy perfume vaporisier that fits into your handbag so you can freshen up on the go wherever you might be.
They are the perfect way to have your favourite perfumes with you 24/7 without carrying round your awkward glass bottles!
You fill the travalo in seconds directly from your standard perfume bottle - as you can see to the right! All you have to do is pump to fill, it's literally that easy.
These are a must for me for holidays and weekends away, it saves on so much room and the panic of a possible breakage!
Travalo Milano - Pink*

So when I heard that Travalo had a new luxury collection being released I was really excited and when I was asked if I would like to try one out I was even more thrilled!
I have two of the regular bottles already and use them constantly but to have something which looks a little more sophisticated and luxurious is even better.

There are eight colours to choose from, so there is literally one for everyone (and they aren't just for girls!) : Sky blue, black, white, red, baby pink, pink, navy & orange - as you can see I have the pink version.

The new pioneering spray head now produces a finer mist which helps disperse your perfume over a wider area - great idea right?
Not only this but the inner bottle can now be removed and is interchangeable with the travalo classic and other future models.
This is SUCH a good idea in my opinion, I do hate it when I want another perfume with me but my current Travalo isn't empty yet so I have to stick with the one I already have filled.

The Milano is a 5ml bottle which contains 65 sprays - which technically could keep you going for a 2 week holiday if you used it sensibly -  that is a long time for one little handbag sized bottle! (Which can I just say will fit in the smallest of clutch bags!)

All in all I LOVE Travalo's new design, it feels and looks alot more up market and all the parts they have ungraded are just fantastic.

The Milano collection is available from September 2015 at www.travalo.com and are priced at £35 each.
I was a little surprised at the price jump at first but for something that will last years and years that you can use everyday I feel it is justified, especially for the high quality.

Have you tried a Travalo before? I couldn't go on a night out or a holiday without one!

I'm Loving... #22

Total Divas
Being a reality TV show whore I cannot believe I haven't started watching this sooner - I am obsessed. Like crazy obsessed! This show is awesome - I am currently watching season 1 and season 4 at the same time and I'm sure it won't be long until I'm totally caught up! I LOVE the Bella Twins - girl crush overload!

Holly Madison - Down The Rabbit Hole
I've mentioned this a few times over the last few weeks. I was a huge fan of Girls Next Door and a big fan of Holly - I met her in Vegas and she was lovely! As soon as this book was announced I was counting down the days until I could get my mitts on it! It is soooo interesting, you really do see the other side of Playboy and the famous mansion! I haven't finished it yet, purely because I don't want it to end so I'm making it last for a little while longer! If you want to know all the inside goss I suggest you go grab this while you can! I got my hardback cover from Amazon :)

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge Perfume
You may have seen my post yesterday about this new perfume in my life! New signature scent - I'm in love! (Review here!)

L'oreal Volume Million Lashes Feline Mascara
Ooooo something else I've done a review on recently! I have used this every single day since buying it - it is brilliant for my short stumpy lashes and used alongside my eyelash curlers this really does help to make a big difference! (full review here)

Touch Of Silver Hairspray
After trying out some new do's recently (like here) I've been using alot more hairspray than usual! I want to start wearing my hiar up more so that it grows faster - last time I grew my hair avoiding heat was the best way! This hairspray is amazing! It feels so light and smells amazing (a little like Aussie) - everything I try from this brand is just perfect for my hair!

Ru Paul  What's The Tee? Podcast
I have become a total lover of podcasts and Ru Paul's What's The Tee? has been making my journeys to and from work a whole lot better! Not only do Ru and Michelle make me full on LOL whilst walking down the road but they have such much wise life advice that I love taking in!

Crunchy Nut Chocolate Granola
Jesus Christ someone needs to take this stuff away from me. I honestly think I could sit and eat the whole bag in one sitting.
Disney Pixar's - Lava
If any of you have been to see Inside Out yet you would have been greeted with this super cute Pixar short before the film began. I fell in love with it - the song makes me so so happy.

Simple Illuminating Radiance Cream
I've been using this stuff for the past couple of weeks instead of a primer and I have been loving my skin! It works just as well as a primer and leaves me with a lovely - non-shiny/greasy glow! IT's still half price at Boots at the moment - try it out girls you won't be disappointed!

New Look Platform Sandals
Did someone say new shoes? You may have spotted these in my OOTD for the Southampton Bloggers meet up on my Instagram (here) - they were literally the most comfy shoes and even though I felt a little tall compared to some of the girls in flats I loved how they looked with my skirt and top combo... and the best thing?! They are only £12 in the sale - here!

What have you been loving lately?

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge Perfume

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge*

It's not everyday I receive a surprise parcel in the post but I was lucky enough to return home from work last week to an exciting box on my doorstep with my name on it.

The lovely people at The Perfume Shop had wrapped up the yummy new scent from  Estee Lauder - Modern Muse Le Rouge for me and I couldn't have been more pleased.

Now.... I'm a big Kardashian/Jenner fan and knowing Kendall Jenner is the face of this new perfume did make me like it a little more.... don't judge me - I want to smell like a supermodel too haha!

I've never owned an Estee Lauder perfume so I was so pleased to finally have one to add to my fragrance collection. The bottle is a gorgeous simple design with the cute bow lid which I LOVE, look how pretty it is!

The scent itself is very sophisticated. I really wanted to share this on here as I really really do love it but sharing a perfume via a blog post is sometimes a little difficult (for me) so I've grabbed a little snippet from the website to give you all a good idea of what I'm chatting about...

"A sexy, provocative contrast of two distinctively different accords-rich roses awakened by ripe fruit, with a seductive velvet creme accord-provide an intriguing dual impression. It's a true innovation in fragrance design, as complex and fascinating as the woman who inspires it."

With strong notes of raspberry, rose and saffron this fruity and floral fragrance has gone straight to the top of my most worn! (Although not for work.... that's a waste!)

I wore this recently on a night out and it lasted for hours and hours, it has the glam factor about it which means it is fab for both daytime and evening wearing!
It's also not something that I feel is 'too young or too old' - so ti seems like a great scent for anyone of any age!

With it's slight spice this is going to be perfect for the Autumn season too which makes me really happy - hello new signature scent!

The Modern Muse Le Rouge eau de parfum starts at £45 - check it out here.

Soap & Glory Body Spray Collection

Hello my favourite people and welcome back to A Yellow Brick Blog (or hello newbie:)
Today I have one of my favourite high street brands and their new products once again!
Yup it's Soap & Glory and whats the best thing about their products? .. that's right - the scents!
So what's more fabulous than a brand new body spray range to carry around with you 24/7!
Body Sprays L2R: Original Pink* | Mist You Madly* | Sugar Crush* | Fruitigo* | Orangeasm*

You may remember me featuring the new Sugar Crush body spray a few months ago. My ultimate S&G favourite turned into handy body spray form was just music to my ears, and nose, and I've been carrying this (or the fragrance mist) with me ever since - it's the perfect summer scent you know!
I was totally unaware that not only had Soap & Glory bought out a body spray to add to the Sugar Crush collection but to all the others aswell!
There are now FIVE body sprays to choose so weather you're a lime, an orange or an rose fan - there is a spray for everyone.

Original Pink
Products to match : Clean On Me, Righteous Butter, Hand Food.
The classic. The original scent from S&G and a smell you won't recognise anywhere else! This smell reminds me so much of my Mum - she introduced me to Soap & Glory so many years ago and I know clean on me is still one of her favourite beauty buys!

Mist You Madly
Products to match : Scrub 'em & Leave 'em, The Daily Smooth, Clean Girls.
This is the spray I had always spotted on the S&G stand, I think it was the only one available until now. MYM is a lovely floral scent which I think is perfect for a girly night out or evening on the town if you don't want to carry your perfume around with you!

Sugar Crush
Products to match : Sugar Crush Body Buttercream, Body Wash, Body Scrub.
My ultimate favourite. I have talked about these products so many times on here and have already been through a bottle of this body spray! Sweet vanilla and lime - this zesty scent is top of my summer must-have list.

Fruitigo
Products to matchFoam Call, Pulp Friction, Butter Yourself.
This is probably the strongest scent out of the bunch! You can really smell the yuzu fruit and wild fig in this unique fresh fragrance! Layering this with the products mentioned above will have you smelling gorgeous all day long!

Orangeasm
Products to match : Orangeasm Super Rich Body Butter, Body Polish, Body Wash.
Okay I'm not going to lie, this is an honest blog, I only ever speak the truth.......  I am not a fan of this at all. When I first saw the Orangeasm range I thought ooooh newness - but I just really don't like the scent. I'm all about sweet, yummy smells and this just isn't for me.

These are a steal for only £4 each - the perfect handbag spritz and great as cute little presents too! Check them out on www.boots.com and www.soapandglory.com - what's your favourite?

10 Things You Need To Pack For Disneyworld

Okay so you can probably tell I've had Disneyworld on the brain ALOT recently! The thought of being able to book my next trip in just a few months has got me so excited and constantly thinking about it! (I just need to keep the boyfriend on board until we book....)
I see so many people tweeting about DW at the moment and have had a few people ask me questions and for some advice over the last few weeks, so I thought I'd share a bit of Kirstie experience with the 10 things that are a MUST in my suitcase.

Comfortable Trainers
If there's one thing you are going to do alot of whilst in Orlando it is walking! I always take a variety of shoes with me but I always seem to throw on whatever trainers/converse I have when heading to a park for the day!
Comfy footwear is a must when heading out for the day, I couldn't imagine walking around in a pair of flip-flops for hours and hours on end, my feet would ache so much! (Saying this though a simple pair of flip-flops is a must for the pools and water parks, easy slip on sandals make life a whole lot easier)

Sunglasses
You are heading to the sunshine state and even if you end up going in storm season - you are still going to see some sunshine at least (you would hope!).
I cannot live without a pair of sunglasses, if the weather is super hot aswell you may not want to wear any make-up.... this is where they come in even handier!

Hands-Free Bag
Disneyworld is one of the most exciting places on earth so you are constantly going to be seeing and doing things so having a bag that you have to take on and off or put it down and pick it up again, when doing something, is probably the most annoying thing ever!
I always take a small across-body bag to keep all my essentials in! I can wear it all day and not have it get in the way and all my possessions are easily accessible! You don't want to be putting your handbag down everytime you want to take a photo or a selfie!

A Towel
A total must for the pools (if staying on site) and water parks! Not only are you fully prepared and don't haave to rent one but you can spot your stuff easily out of the huge aray of sun loungers there! The towel in the picture below is the one I took with me and it came in so handy!

 A Poncho
Orlando is known for it's sunshine... and showers! My boyfriend and I were caught in the rain almost everyday when we went last year and a poncho was something we hadn't thought of packing. This meant we spent about $8/10 or so each on buying a Disneyworld poncho! What we really should have done was bought a couple of bargains ones before we went and popped them in our bags! Save yourself some money - you will probably only chuck it away after anyway!

Anti-Bac Hand Gel
Disneyworld is host to thousands and thousands of people a day and you will be touching alot of the same stuff as those strangers so, for me, anti-bac is in my bag 24/7 without question! Something to pop on my hands after going on rides and before I eat!

Suncream & Aftersun
Even if the sky is cloudy - you are still going to be affected by the sun. I went to Blizzard Beach on a seriously cloudy day and came back with sunburn! A sensible factored suncream and aftersun is vital for a trip to Florida!

A Small Purse
Like I said before, I only like to take a small handy-sized bag with me to the parks, so with that comes a small purse! You don't need all your cards and bits and bobs with you (especially if you have your magic band linked to your bank account!) so I just like to take a small coin purse to pop all of my money into.

Brand New Perfume
I've said this many times on here - a brand new perfume on a holiday is a must for me! That way the scent will forever remind you of your amazing trip away :) Can't find one before you go? Grab one in the airport before you depart, that's what I did!

Portable Phone Charger
Yes, you don't want to forever be on your phone while you are on holiday - but there will be a few things you will need on there.
For me it was mostly my camera (obviously) and my Disney Experience app! The app helps you organise your whole trip - from fast passes to park timings to restaurant bookings! It's handy to have that to look at at all times so running out of charge isn't an option! You can get these charging sticks so cheap nowadays and they are so easy to just chuck in your handbag!

What's top of your packing list?
