Mid-Month Beauty Picks

With July nearly half way through and me being too impatient to wait to upload the obvious 'July Favs' on August 1st I decided a mid-month catch up was a must!

After a few months of minimal daily make-up , a standard (boring) haircare routine and no new beauty purchases I've fallen back in love with my beauty stash and testing out new things!
I've said it so much this year but I WILL be blogging regularly again now - it's taken me a while to get used to my new job and get the time and effort to get my blog on but fingers crossed I'm on it now! #finally
So check out the below to see what my top products have been this month so far.....
You may have spotted over on Twitter and Instagram last week that I took part in Race For Life Pretty Muddy in Portsmouth! A 5km run full of hilarious and MUDDY obstacles - which was so brilliant! I don't think I have ever been that muddy and it felt great achieving something with some amazing friends and knowing it was all for charity!
Well... I decided that I really should go all out when it came to rocking the pink so I just had to do my hair! I had had this Lee Stafford product in my bathroom cabinet for a while, my Mum had given it to me to try as she had used it and loved it but had no use for the other half of the bottle I knew I loved a good pink hair session! I usually use the Bleach London wash in-wash out dyes and love them - and this was just as good! In fact I think I probably prefer this one as it is in a squeezy bottle which is alot easier to use then the Bleach bottles PLUS it has the original Lee Stafford scent which I'm a huge fan of! I think the next time I use it though I'm going to leave it on for at least 30 mins (double what is says) to create a vibrant pink instead of a tint.

Benefit's brand new brow setting gel is FREE this month with Marie Claire! Well it's a small deluxe tester size but still a great size that is going to last.
I have fallen totally in love with this stuff! Since using up my Rimmel brow gel a couple of months ago I've been meaning to buy something similar to replace it and this fits the criteria perfectly.
The brush is like a little comb which makes brushing the brows through so easy and the perfect finishing touch after using my MAC brow pencil to fill out my sparce areas. This is now a must-have in my everyday mkae-up routine - I love that it's clear and it keep my brows in place all day. If you can get your hands on Marie Claire this month (Blake Lively is on the cover!) then do it, £4 to try this stuff out is a bargain!

I'm such a fan of Soap and Glory products and when a little box of goodies fell through my door to celebrate their 10th birthday last month I was thrilled!
Along with a bunch of party bits to help them celebrate were a few little products for me to try out, including this - Extreme Plumping gloss! A clear gloss with the classic Sexy Mother Pucker scent and feeling.... yes that tingly lip plumping feeling that you either love or hate! I personally don't mind it at all and I love how this thick clear non-sticky gloss looks on - the perfect lipgloss with 0 effort needed.

It's been a while since I treated my hair to anything other than standard drug store brands so this popping through my letterbox was heaven to my unloved locks!
Having shorter hair means that styling becomes a must if I want to look half decent (although I do like a good plait!) - this stuff is the perfect primer and finishing touch before drying! It keeps my hair feeling soft and smooth and does indeed reduce dryig time whether I'm using a hair dryer or air drying, it was a dream to take to Mallorca last month as it seriously helped with the de-frizzing of my mane!

I thought I should include a picture of this beauty, so check it out in all it's glory below!

I bought this last month to wear to the IOW Festival and it's pretty much been my go-to for the last 4 weeks! The colour is gorgeous on - a perfect dark brown nude for me (here's an occasion of my wearing it) - the formula is lovely and this stuff lasts for hours without feeling dry or crusty, time I invested in some more shades I think, for only £6.50 can I just buy them all #WhoNeedsKJ? ....

This Week I'm Loving... #18

Stalker
Yes, once again I have binged watched a TV show and become completely obsessed with it. This is awesome, I'm upto date already and cannot wait for more episodes. I love crime shows and trying to work out who the stalker is each week is awesome.

My Time Off Work
This past week I have had off work. Yes, 10 whole days of no early alarms and having to rush and get up to get ready! I can easily say that I am NOT looking forward to going back on Wednesday.

Paul Mitchell Smoothing Collection*
I recently got sent this collection to try out on my newly chopped and newly coloured locks. I have the shampoo, the daily, treatment and the serum and I have been loving them. KEep your eyes peeled for a full review coming soon.

Jumble Bee Banana Chips
Before I hit Tesco in the week I tweeted and asked for suggestions of what to buy while I was there. I just wanted a little inspiration! Someone mentioned banana chips and I was intrigued, so when I saw these were on offer I decided to give them a go. They are super yummy, I think this bag is going to last weeks, plus you don't feel as bad snacking on the. ... It's fruit!

Bakewell Tarts
You all probably know now but I am on a chocolate ban. A 6 week chocolate ban! Call me crazy but I need a bit of a challenge in my life! I'm 2 weeks in now and still alive so that's a start! Although I'm not having chocolate I'm still kind of giving in to my sweet tooth and have been picking up different sorts of things to treat myself with! Bakewell Tarts are so underrated!

Bourjois Rouge Aqua Laque - Getting Reddy
You may have spotted this in my April Favourites! It's my newest baby and I'm in love! Super shiny and amazingly bright this is perfect for summer..... I'm so tempted to invest in some of the other shades too

My iPad Mini
I've had my iPad for a while now, I bought it to take to Florida with me, as I'd wanted one for sooo long and thought it would be great for travelling with! This has been coming everywhere with me lately - I'm loving having it from front of me whilst doing the washing up and things.... I realise now home super sad I sound, oh well!

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Fragrance Mist
Yes, last week I talked about the body spray version of this stuff and now I'm drooling over this beauty! Not only do I own the body spray but I now have a proper fragrance mist to go alongside it. This stuff lasts alot longer and you need alot less, perfect for an everyday morning burst of sweet lime goodness!

Bleach London Rose Hair Colour
I dyed my hair pink!!! Although it's gone now... it only lasted like 2 washes but I loved it while it was there. This stuff was so, so easy to use and I will 100% be doing it again, I may even go for lilac next time!

Tesco Cotton Fresh Candle
Last but not least is a candle and a bargain candle at that. I spotted this on my trip to tesco and seeing as it was only £2.50 I decided to give it a go. This smells so lovely, I love a fresh cotton/linen scent and for the price I'm impressed by how long it is lasting.

POTW #31 : Fudge Urban Hair Chalk

Earlier this week in my Bestival post I mentioned how I loved my pink hair at Bestival and that I was going to share with you how I did it! So here it is, Fudge Urban Hair Chalk!
I'd used hair chalk before, at Bestival 2013 but I knew this year I wanted to use alot more of it and really change my hair! I picked these up from Boots at £5.99 each. (a little expensive compared to cheapy ones on ebay really!)
I went for pink and purple although on the day after I'd finish putting them in and brushing it through, it just looked all pink - artistic flare failed!
Hair chalk is so super easy to use! I'd recommend maybe doing it in some old clothes and wear a towel or something around your shoulders as it can be a little messy with the fall out. (Do NOT use when standing on white/cream carpets!)

This chalk comes in a little round pot which is cute but not as helpful as other brands' packaging! Because of this I use a plastic bag around my other hand when applying it to save my fingers from getting stained! Saying this if it does get on your hands it is pretty easy to wash off!

I went for the dip-dye look because I'm 'totes original' - bahaha not! I think it looks cute, who cares if every other Tom, Dick and Louise has it!
After putting a fair bit through the fronts of my hair my lovely friend Megan - Hey Megs - helped me to do the back!
Like I said before I tried to use purple and pink but they both seemed to fade to the same shade after I had brushed it through!

Brushing did hurt slightly, it just feels like there is alot of build up in your hair - but it was so worth it! I had lots of people ask if I had dyed my hair which I was really chuffed with - must have looked half professional right?

And........ here is the finished product! Even though it felt like I had used quite a bit in both mine and my friends hair I've still come home with lots left in the pot! I'm tempted to take it on holiday with me to change up my looks on a few days!
If it wasn't for my job I would dye it tomorrow - I love it!

Bestival 2014

I can't believe it's been and gone already! Bestival has come to my home once again and rocked my life for a weekend.... I think I'm still recovering to be honest!
I love Festival's, the atmosphere, the fun the fashion - there is always something to watch and always something to look at!
My highlights of the weekend had to be seeing Chic, Basement Jaxx! I also LOVED the Listerine Isle Of White (yes my friend actually believed they had made a spelling mistake) they were doing fab free funky make-up for anyone and everyone plus giving away free bottles of mouthwash - perfect for those hungover mornings and post-stinky food stalls!
Not forgetting of course my favourite place - the Sink The Pink tent... I have an obsession for drag!

This may be quite photo heavy for you guys but here's what I got upto at the weekend and a little look at me and my pals having a blast!
Guilty of a few festival selfies..... #sorrynotsorry (I want pink hair 24/7, keep your eyes peeled this week to see how I did it!)
Day 1 : Top & Shorts both from New Look, Necklace from eBay.
Day 2 : Playsuit - ASOS
Relaxing at the main stage with the blondes - Saturday afternoon.
Watching Sophie Ellis-Bextor - I have to say her voice live is flawless, I was so so impressed! Obviously we all got up for Murder On The Dancefloor and I loved that she got into the fancy dress spirit!
Can't go to a festi without my trusty Hunter's .... I mean they cost enough so I try and wear them at every possible opportunity... aka IOW Festival, Bestival and when it snows haha!

The world's largest DISCO BALL!
Post toboggan ride at the port - one of the best parts of the Bestival!
Getting photo bombed! Crop top - New Look, Shorts - ASOS!

Thanks again Rob da Bank for an incredible weekend - the Bestival is so well organised with the best types of entertainment aswell as amazing artists!
