Perfect Products For The Tired Girl

Are you a tired girl?
Everyday do you wonder if you could get away with a cheeky lunchtime nap under your desk or think maybe glitter under eyes is actually a thing you could go for 24/7 and not just at festivals?
Yes?
Then listen us! I've found some perfect products to help you feel relax, revived and slightly more... awake! As a serious fatigue sufferer myself I know how it feels to have zero energy and therefore zero motivation. From long working days on my feet to hours behind a desk - I've done it all and know all to well that sometimes we just need a miracle cure, or ten!

I've been using these products over the last few months (some longer than others) and although they aren't 12 hours of beauty sleep they really do aid in destressing and help me feel ever so slightly more awake and alert!

If you work on your feet then this first product is a fabulous alternative to an electric foot massager which would set you back hundreds of pounds. The Footner Cool Active Massager* is a roller ball massager which dispenses a cool soothing foam to provide relief from many foot discomforts.
To use all you have to do is push down on the roller ball for a few seconds after shaking the bottle and the foam is dispensed! Then simply massage the foam into the entire foot in small, firm circles. It says to use for around two minutes per foot, but I could probably do it for alot longer.
If you're suffering from long days/night at work, exercise or even high heel pain and your partner is too lazy/selfish to give you a nice foot rub then maybe this is the product for you to give a go! The only thing I sometimes wish when using it is that the roller ball was slightly bigger so I could massage a bit harder!
I WISH this had been around back in the day when I was working 13 hours a day in a cafe/restaurant - I remember going home nightly and rubbing in a cooling lotion to my feet because they were literally on fire and swollen from being on them all day and night,  this would have been a god send for me and my co-workers!

As I've gotten older something I've noticed a lot more is the bags under my eyes. I'm 99% sure this down to the stresses and pressures of adulthood (obvs), when I was younger I never bothered with concealer and the bags under my eyes weren't anything I ever gave a second thought.
At 27 I am now trying every technique, lotion and potion possible to deflate the little buggers! Working behind a computer screen day in day out not only makes my eyes themselves sore and strained but the area around my eyes always feels puffy, sore and unattractive So when I got the opportunity to try out Beauty Blvd's Divine Hydra-Gel Gold Radiance Eye Mask*  I thought I's give it a shot!
The Divine Hydra-Gel contains two masks, each made up of two individual gel sheets, one for each under-eye!
It does say to keep the mask in the fridge before using for an extra cooling and soothing effect - which I wish I had done.... but I didn't read that until I was about to try it out! The second mask is now being kept in the fridge though.
I was worried these little gelly things were going to be slippery and fiddly but they are super easy to remove from the packaging and apply. Just pop on the masks under ach eye, reaching as far as the outer corners and relax. Well... you can relax or you can carry on with the thousands jobs you need to do like I need - I like to multi-task! You can wear these for any up to two hours but you only need around twenty minutes to see and feel the benefits.

Did it work for me? Yes. Once I had removed the masks and massaged the excess serum into my skin I could see the difference. My skin looked a lot less puffy, slightly more hydrated and the look of fatigue has slightly lessened. I felt nice and refreshed too, it's crazy how much you reply on your eyes, when I'm tired they are the first thing to start lagging! I'm already looking forward to using this mask again, I think it will be a god send the next time I'm hungover!

Scent has always been a big thing for me, and I swear to God by aromatherapy oils to help my mood and energy levels.
My Mum actually bought me a set of three roller balls for Christmas just gone which I love and keep on my work desk at all times. They are named Confidence, Focus and Energy and are by the company Tisserand. These are three things I need a serious hand with on a day to day basis, my attention span isn't fantastic and my mind has the tendency to fire off in fifty directions at once... which can be very frustrating if you're trying to have a conversation with me.
When I'm feeling a bit sleepy and staring into my laptop like it's a black hole this is the roller ball I reach for - Energy.
This scent is made up from orange leaf, grapefruit and refreshing lime, a great uplifting aroma that helps me to snap out of my tired rut for a little while longer!

Something you may not think of too much is... what is causing me to be so tired? I definitely suffer from a few things that contribute to my everlasting state of sleepy but
Health Hacks by Esme Flloyd is a fantastic book full of facts and solutions for everything from tiredness and nausea to back pain, cellulite and periods! There is something for everyone in this book and I learn something new every single time I flick through it.

Do you have any go-to products to help your tired-self out?

Kirstie's April Favourites 2017

Well, well, well looks who's back with a favourites post.
It's been a fair while since I shared my favourite things from the month but seeing as I had a fair few stand-out things in April I thought what better way to talk about them than in a blog post!

First up something which could actually now go into an empties post as I've finished them - Hairburst's Chewable Hair Vitamins!
I had spotted these heart shaped gummies on Instagram in late March and thought 'I like the sound of those', so when I was browsing Holland & Barrett after payday and spotted them at half price (£9.99) I couldn't resist popping them in my basket.
I have to say I definitely feel like I noticed a difference, as most of you know I have gone back to my natural hair colour after year of bleaching and have been letting my hair grow out from a bob over the past few months. I think all of these things combined has helped transform my hair into what seems to be the healthiest and thickest state it's been in since about 2006!
Over the course of a month I think my hair has grown about an inch - which if I'm correct is double the average. I would love to keep giving these a go but my current budget won't allow for a £20 hair splurge... maybe once they are back on offer I can start re-using them.

Now onto something slightly more random, the My Dad Wrote A Porno Podcast. Oh my good god this is so hilarious I have literally lost count as to how many times I've told friends to listen to it! The first two seasons had me bursting out into full on lols in public whilst alone... never a good look! I HIGHLY recommend this - season 3 comes out at the end of this month so you have a week or so to catch up and be totally scarred by the world of Belinda!

It wouldn't be a Kirstie favourites without some form of food stuck in there and the past few weeks I have been loving Deliciously Ella's Energy Balls and Protein World's Cinnamon Roll Slender Blend!
I actually, again, picked up the energy balls because they were on offer in Holland & Barrett (yes, I can spend ALOT of money in that store!) - they were only £1 instead of the eye-watering usual price of £2. I have to say these are such a fantastic snack whilst on the go, all natural ingredients and totally gluten, dairy and refined sugar free - I have nothing but positive things to say about these tasty balls! (okay regretting that wording...)
Like I've mentioned alot, I really love Protein World products and the Cinnamon Roll shake was a firm favourite throughout April - hands down my fav flavour from them.

Make-up time! I don't think I'm only blogger who's been a tiny bit mesmerised by the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter + Glow Liquid Eyeshadows! Kitten Karma is SO fabulous - I can't wait to rock this this festival season - I'm pretty pants when it comes to make-up but this are pretty much idiot free, so so easy to use!

Neal & Wolf's Elevate has 100% been in a favourites post before! I bought a replacement bottle of this back at the beginning of the year and I honestly had forgotten how much I love this stuff. I pop a 20p blob sized throughout my hair when it's damp after being washed and let my hair dry naturally (I'm trying to grow it people!) - not only does it smell fabulous but it makes my hair feel so soft and smooth, a total hair hero!

As soon as I heard that the Embryolisse Radiant Eye Cream was a favourite with stars such as Elle McPherson, Ariana Grande and Scarlett Johansson I knew I had to try it out and jumped at the offer of a sample!
Working at home behind a laptop Mon-Fri my eyes and the surrounding area gets so tired, puffy and generally drained so this product has been a god send. As I don't wear any make-up when working at home (I mean come on that would be a total waste!) popping this on once or twice a day to refresh and relax my eyes has been incredible. It immediately wakes me up and feels so soothing - plus I can always see a slight change in my skin, it definitely does what it says with brightening any looks of fatigue!

Thanks so much for reading you lovely lot :) I'm so glad I'm back blogging around, there's definitely been in a big whole in my life without it!

Current Skincare Favourites | Winter 2016

Winter plays havoc with my skin, so now is the best time for trying out new skincare products!
Over the last couple of months I have slightly switched up my skincare routine and have been loving using some new finds along with some old favourites that are back in my life!

Antipodes Manuka Honey Day Cream*
I've never been one for day creams, I've always worried they make they skin look greasy and my make-up never seems to sit as well, but when I was sent this a few weeks ago I thought it has to be worth a go.
I have heard so much about the Antipodes brand but never actually tried anything so I was really looking forward to getting my hands on it and trying it out. I have used this- every.single.day. since receiving it!
Firstly, I am in love with the scent, anything honey scented and I'm a fan, even that old lady royal jelly stuff in Boots, I loves it! This is such a rich cream one on the skin feels so ! Once I've popped it on I leave it around 5 minutes to sink in after this my skin feels matte and ready for any make-up I want to throw at it!

Antonia Burrell Forest Dew
My holy grail for no make-up days..... which now I work at home most of the time seem to be very frequent! I got this way back before the Summer and seriously have fallen in love over these last few months.
Just 6 pumps and some relaxing massaging into the skin later and my skin looks hydrated, more even and in the mornings I look slightly more human #bonus! This stuff is also meant to be great for reducing wrinkles so I think it's about time I started using it everyday.... I need to get rid of those horrible lines that seem to be taking over my face!

Liz Earle Skin Tonic
I couldn't even tell you how many years I've been using this for now but it is a total favourite for life! I use this every morning and every night after cleansing to refresh my face and give it that squeaky clean feeling and I can tell you now if my bottle runs out I tend to see the difference in my skin almost immediately... I'm praying this is never discontinued!

Tropic Super Greens Nutrient Boost Serum*
Last but not least is the newest skincare product to hit my ever-growing beauty shelves!
Topic Skincare is a new brand to me, I have actually been trying out quite a few of their products over the last week or so (which I'm sure you will hear about soon!).
I don't think I've ever meant 'a little goes a long way' as much as I do with this serum!
The bottle comes with a pipette dispenser and with just 2 or 3 drops I have more than enough product to cover my (huge) face! I'm actually curious as to how long this will last me and I feel like it will last years.
The serum has such lovely fresh and 'green' scent... not planty but you can tell it's natural! It's really lightweight and although sometimes it feels like you have loads of product on your face it doesn't take long for it to all sink in! I love using this as an overnight treatment - my skin always looks that little bit brighter and awake in the mornings, which is something I seriously need this time of year!

What skincare products have you been loving lately?

October Favourites 2016

What's that? A favourites post? Yup, bonjour! Slightly later than planned but hey-ho it's here.... let's just ignore the fact it's mid-November!
Now... sit down, grab a cup of rosy lee and listen to me ramble on to what I have been loving over the past month!
First up .... some Rosie For Autograph goodies! Both the original Eau de Parfum from Rosie and the large candle of the same beautiful floral scent have become my go-tos for October/November - I am in love.
A strong scent with amazing staying power - I have been getting so many compliments on my everyday scent recently with a few shocks when I say what it is.... nope not Chanel or Dior!
I still can't get over how much of a bargain this range is with the 30ml scent at £14 and the candle only £15 these are definitely a duo I will be re-purchasing! I cannot get enough of this range.... like, seriously - if you haven't tried out any of the cosmetics or fragrances yet... do it!

Next up - the Moroccanoil Treatment. I can easily say this is hands down the best hair oil I've ever tried and I'm not quite sure how I managed to live without it for so long to be quite honest with you all!
After months of living off cheaper versions I decided to invest once more in my favourite little hair treat and two bottles down I'm not regretting it.
These are around £13 fo r a 30ml .... which made sound alot but this stuff lasts me at least a month/6 weeks per bottle, and I use a fair bit of it each time I wash my hair - I always worry when it start to run low... definitely something for my Christmas list!

Make-up now and .... ermahgerd, this duo from Charlotte Tilbury is just heaven.
If you are looking for some make-up to invest in I cannot receommend Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar Bronze & Glow enough. This bronzer and highlight duo is a MUST in my everyday routine now - from sitting in the office in a hoodie to going on a night out with the girls, I use this palette.
I use the bronze to contour and give me a bit of colour and the highlight to give me a subtle gorgeous glow - I cannot get enough of this, I will 100% be repurchasing when the time comes (even with it's hefty price tag!).

Also on the cosmetic train, another liquid lipstick that's been added to my every growing collection. Since trying out Soft Spoken by NYX months ago (and talking about it non-stop) I knew it was about time I invested in another. Well, I didn't go crazy and yes I just went for anothe nude, but you can really never have too many nude lippys can you?!

This time I went for NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Sandstorm - basically a liquid lipstick version of Velvet Teddy from MAC and I have been reaching for this nearly everyday! Nudes are my go-to's for everyday, I jsut find them so easy and tend not have have to re-apply them every hour like other shades like red that you really have to commit too! Compared to other liquid lipsticks on the market too these are a steal and the quality is amazing.

Non-beauty favourites now and well... I have a few.
Of course HAMILTON is still my life. I cannot get enough and don't think I ever will. The thought of being able to finally see it live next year literally makes me want to burst into tears, I mean even seeing the theatre front recently had me go into meltdown/fangirl/emotional crying mode!
I have had Lady Gaga - Joanne on ALOT, Gaga is definitley back and better than ever on the music front, so many amazing songs on this album.

I've been watching a lot of Black Mirror, which has had me baffled, traumatized , shocked and overthinking everything every single episode. Some of them are just total genius and some of them are just totally f***ed up, but they always get you thinking! (It reminds me a little of Inside No9.... so if you have enjoyed that then give it a go!)

The Vampire Diaires is back which is awesome, kind of sad that it's the last season but at the same time probably is about time!
Total Bellas of course has been my favourite song of the moment - I love Nikki & Brie a little TOO much.... I'm so glad that Total Divas starts back soon aswell.... can someone help me train to be a wrestler please?

What have been your go-to products, books, TV shows etc this past month or so?! Gimme ALL the recommendations you can!

Rosie For Autograph Insta Glow Matte Bronzer Review

Make-up review time and how god damn pretty is this!
A few weeks ago now I ventured into a place I don't tend to visit often, good old Marks & Spencer's!
I'm not a regular visitor as I don't live super close to a store but when I do go in there are always two aisles I head straight for.... the food (hello chocolate covered cookie dough) and the make-up!

I first stumbled across the Rosie For Autograph range earlier this year and fell head over heels for the range and everything I tried from it.
The packaging, the quality, the colours - I was hooked... so it was inevitable that I would end up walking away with a bag full of goodies.... opps!
Yes, not only did I just HAVE to have this gorgeous bronzer (yes we'll get to it I promise) but I also purchased a fragrance and the candle from the range (but we'll get to those later this month!).
I am a sucker for any highlighting product. Literally anything with a bit of a shimmer or a glow I'm there, I will throw my money without a second thought and it to my ever-growing collection of pretty powders, creams and sticks!
As soon as I saw the Insta-Glow Matte Bronzer from the Rosie collection I was sold - it didn't have a price on it and I didn't care, I was buying it.

This is gorgeous marbleized bronzer and highlighter duo in a super pretty floral design compact (I seriously didn't want to use this at first!). It helps to create a sheer natural glow and, for me, is the perfect finishing touch to my everyday make-up.
I have to say though I'm not too sure why this has the word 'matte' in it and it is super shimmery.... which I love!
I had a Fake Bake bronzing brick which I used for years and years and since that ran out (and was discontinued #boo!) I haven't found anything half as good, until now - I'm obsessed with this!!!

Priced at £20 I would happily buy this over and over.... although I don't think that's going to be necessary as powders seriously last me forever, I don't know how I do it!

Tanya Burr Soft Luxe Collection - Martha Moo Lipgloss

You may remember earlier this month I talked all about how I had made some new make-up purchases from Tanya Burr's range - her new collection was released AND it had some money off so I just couldn't say no to trying out something from one of YouTube's biggest names.

I previously talked about the eyeshadow quad - which for the price was a total bargain - now it's time to talk about the lip product  I decided to try!
After briefly looking on Tanya's blog to have a sneaky look at the new collection I thought Martha Moo looked right up my street and being a matt finish it was a no-brainer - I had to try this out!

Being a huge fan of nudes and brown shades right now this looked like the least pink out of the range and the name was cute so... I was sold.
When the gloss arrived I was a little surprised to see it was still a little pink not as brown/nude as I had remembered the swatch but - it looked gorgeous!
The pigmentation is fabulous, a really rich bold colour - but the perfect shade for everyday wear. It's subtle and natural.
The formula is smooth and creamy, no stickiness at all and it also dries really quickly which is great - I hate having to wait for a liquid lipstick to dry!
Stay time - I'll be honest isn't as great as others I've tried but for the small price tag of £5.99 it's great - it stays on and doesn't go patchy or crusty which is a pet hate of mine!
I've been using it with MAC's Soar lip liner underneath and they go perfectly - my favourite everyday duo of the moment... I even wore it to Thorpe Park the other day!

We need to talk...

Hello lovely readers. I hope you are well :)

We need to have a chat - and don't worry it's not a bad chat.... well I don't think it is anyway - it's just a bit of an update/news/heart-to-heart ramble. (yup, one of those posts.)

I've been wanting to write this for a while now but it's been a struggle finding time to sit down, relax and let the words flow from my brain to my fingers, but here I am. #Hello

Yes. I'm talking about my blog and my current feels about my blogging life.

I started uploading to this blog regularly in 2013, nearly 3 years ago now and I could never imagine that I would have actually stuck to the huge commitment that it is PLUS gained everything I have done.

I've worked with amazing companies, been able to make the BEST 'internet' friends ever and even managed to get myself a dream job from my experience and self-taught know-how (cool right?)
But lately my blogging routine has changed and it's bought a few things (and feelings) to light for me.

I LOVE writing and creating and since the year has begun I've found that talking about and reviewing PR samples, writing about my favourite cosmetic bits each month and general product jargin has been more of a chore I've needed to get done than a fun time for me to express myself through my favourite hobby.

I feel like my content is my same old beauty reviews/favourites which seem to get lost out there in the sea of other similar posts that are uploaded 24/7.

I've always wanted A Yellow Brick Blog to have that little something different and I feel like I've lost it and that's why I want to be honest with you all.
So..... going forth with A Yellow Brick Blog (Yes I'm not quitting!) I'm going to be creating alot more stand alone lifestyle, health/fitness, advice/tips, style and obviously beauty posts for you guys. (Yes beauty will still be a part of everything as it's obviously still a passion of mine - don't worry it's not going anywhere!) (Oo.... and maybe a bit of Disney too... obvs.)

I just want to create things I'm proud of and not feel pressured to get certain things written and uploaded within a particular time frame. Right now having a box full of products in my spare room to try out and review just isn't for me.

I want to write original stuff from the heart and my head! (Plus I really want to start writing that book I spoke about last year! #oneday)
Obviously I still have a beauty reviews and PR bits and bobs for you guys, and it's definitely not something that will be stopped all together - beauty is what I started with after all - they just aren't going to be as regular as they have been in the past.

I hope this hasn't disheartened any of you, I really do.

Most of the time though the amount of 'saves' on Bloglovin' and page views I receive more or less triple when I put up a totally original post like : 'The Stresses Of Being A Blogger' , '5 Things I Cannot Live With In My Cupboards', 'Putting Down My Phone',  '15 Things To Remind Yourself In 2016', '2016 Goals, Aims & Plans', and 'Life Thoughts'.

So, that's that! I would LOVE for you all to leave in the comments your honest thoughts and any requests for posts that you would love too see :)

Thanks for listening to my rambling  I love you guys, thank you always for your lovely support!

Mark Hill Ellipse Wand Review

When it comes to my hair - wands are my best friend. I have a countless amounts of different sizes and styles and whatever length my hair seems to be when I want waves and curls - a wand is always the answer - tongs are rollers are so 2010.

I have been meaning to feature this newbie in my life for weeks and weeks now but time has been running away with itself so quickly it has literally taken me forever to get round to it!
This is the Ellipse Wand from Mark Hill - a totally unique shaped barrell to give you a different wave every single time.
When I had my hair cut shorter last month I was worried that I was no longer going to be able to use this as the shape is fairly large and I wasn't sure whether my hair would even be able to wrap around it... BUT it still works a dream - I love rocking a wavy bob! (Yes.... I've gone from a lob to a bob - scary times!)

Mark Hill Ellipse Wand*

So easy to use - I dry my hair as usual and then grab different sized sections from the top two layers of my hair to create different sized waves.
This creates a great 'tousled' look - one of my favourite to rock when I have a little more time on my hands!

The one thing I would say about the wand that I would like to change is the fact there isn't a temperature gauge on there. With other electrical styling tools I own there are heat settings where you can choose how hot the barrell/plates get - this just has an on/off switch which goes straight to 200c.
Saying this though my hair is always soft and shiny still and doesn't feel overly battered!
So that looks pretty messy haha - it wasn't I promise!
So there we have it - the Mark Hill Ellipse wand! Another fabulous product to add to my collection!
If I ever did decided to have long hair again or go back to using extensions too then this would 100% be my go-to hair tool - if it works this well on my little bob I can imagine it does amazing things to long hair!

Kirstie's Current Favourites

Well .... it's been a while since I've talked you guys through what I have been LOVING lately so I thought it was about time!
I've got everything from teabags to MAC products today, so sit back, relax and come and see what I'm talking about...
Now I'm going to start with the two randoms. Metcalfe's Skinny Dark Chocolate Popcorn Thins and Twinings Gingerbread Green Tea.
Yes, I've talked about the tea before on here in my January favourites but it's still a strong, strong favourite of mine! This stuff is so, so good - tastes just like gingerbread, perfect for a little sweet fix!
The popcorn thins are literally da bomb. I tweeted about them not long ago when I had stumbled across them in co-op and then the lovely people at Metcalfe's Skinny sent me a whole box full (I know, I couldn't believe it either!) - it's taken me all my strength not to sit and eat them all I tell ya!
Popcorn is literally my favourite food ever and I've got such a weakness for dark chocolate at the moment so this combined is just a WINNER.
 Strobing! Strobing, strobing, strobing.
I mean .... it's basically just shiny highlighters right? Well.... I've been going through these 3 like no bodies business!
The MAC strobe cream (bottom swatch) is a total beaut - for £24 yes it's a bit of a splash out, for me anyway, but this is gorgeous and I'm really looking forward to rocking it with a tan. I miss being tanned so much!
The other two are by Make Up Revolution. Euphoria* and Hypnotic* - at only £5 each these are a bargain! One a silvery pink based cream and the other a golden shimmer cream - I'm obsessed.
I've been rotating these 3 daily, basically just going with whichever one I feel like, I love them all! Strobing is a YES from me. (Although I'm just using them as I would a highlighter.... I don't look Pinterest worthy just yet!)
Since getting a new prescription and starting my new job, glasses have become my life. I actually can't go through a day without them so new pairs are always a good thing!
I was recently sent this pair by William Morris London*, snazzy right?
This pair is actually from the 'Silver Collection' - this collection is super special as they have started to reuse the original shapes and designs that William Morris started out his business with 20 years ago!
You may have spotted me in them on social media recently - (here) - I totally look intelligent right? The quality is amazing, everything from the case to the arms, I'm so, so pleased with them.
MAC's eyebrow pencil in Lingering has changed my life. God lord how had I not tried this before?! I LOVE this eyebrow pencil, the shade is perfect for me, it fills in my sparse areas without making them look too bold and OTT and it lasts all day - this will be repurchased over and over again. As you can see I've already rubbed off all the writing on the packaging and I've only had it a month!

Next is a new skincare super hero! Bee Good Necta Perfecta* was recently released and I was lucky enough to get this mini sample size to try out. (Blogger perks eh?!)
I've only tried it out a couple of times but I've loved the results! Made for a multitude of things you can use this skin perfecter n everything from your scalp to your elbows!
Hydrating, soothing and moisturising a tiny bit of stuff goes a long, long way - with the horrible weather we've been having lately my hands have been suffering, this stuff has been great for popping on at night before I head off to sleep for a deep hydrating treatment! I really want to try it out on my scalp as a treatment next!
Health is something I'm trying to take alot more seriously at the moment, I'm ona a real mission to make myself feel better and change my ways - so far, so good! This book was something I picked up from ASOS  as something to help me with all those health problems I seem to have day in day out. With it's quick and easy segments to read Health Hacks is so helpful and something I actually enjoying reading through!
There are tons of different sections to read through so weather it's being bloated or something to help with a rash - there is a top tip on how to solve it!
