Rodial Instaglam Skin Tint Capri (Light) Review

Hello lovely ones! Hope you are all well and having a good week so far! Today I have a review for you all from that new brand in my life Rodial.
You may remember my post about the fabulous Glamstick last week and I'm back with another make-up product from them in the form of a skin tint!

This is the Instaglam skin tint in the shade Capri (light.)
Rodial Instaglam Skin Tint Capri (Light)*
First up, obsessed with this product's name. I'm an Instagram hoe so the fact this is called Instaglam just makes me happy!

It is a skin tint.... aka a tinted moisturiser/BB cream type product! I was a little worried about the shade when I first got my hands on it as it is the lightest one in the collection but it is actually turned out alot better than I was expecting.

It comes in a professional loooking  40ml tube with a snazzy silver mirrored lid! I'm pretty lucky with my skin so I don't mind wearing something that isn't high coverage, this is said to be medium coverage and I would agree with that.
I've been wearing this a couple of times a week when I haven't been upto much and not after  full-on look.
The texture is smooth, soft and creamy like a moisturiser and glides onto the skin with ease.

I've found I need to use a fair bit each time to get my desired coverage but it does give me a nice, even look.
It doesn't cover my bag under my eyes I can tell you that, I definitely need concealer alongside this if I want some good coverage in that area but everything else like redness and freckles are covered easily and evenly.
Bloomin lipstick swatches staying on my hand! Proper long-lasting those!

Although it leaves my skin feeling really smooth it does leave quite a shine on my skin which I'm not surprised by, as of it's consistency so if you are prone to oily/shiny skin this probably won't help you BUT if you suffer with dry and dehydrated skin this would be fab!

To be honest I've not noticed my 'lines/wrinkles' being plumped that much like it promises but my skin does feel very even and soft. It might work better and be more noticeable on more mature skin maybe?

This is the perfect product for me for the hot summer weather, alot lighter and fresher than my usual foundations and it has an SPF 30 which is great you are going to be outside for the majority of the day - beach/festival/holiday.
I will definitely be taking this to Florida with me but I don't think I'll be able to wear it for that long as once I have a tan it will be way too light.

I do have one problem with this product and that is the price. This retails at £45 which for what it is, I would say is alot. I think £20 would be sufficient!
You can see this beauty here on Rodial's website! I'm really intrigued now to try some more products from this brand - I've heard such amazing things about their skincare and a certain boob cream which sounds awesome, so keep your eyes peeled as I'm sure they'll be more reviews coming your way soon!

Kirstie's Travel Diaries #2 - A Sightseers Heaven

Catch up with Day's 1 & 2 here.

DAY 3 (02/03/12)

So this was our first morning waking up in America and it was a bloody early one! With our body clocks being 5 hours ahead we were up and wide awake at around 6am (aka 11am!) so up and ready we got and we wrapped up seriously warm because it was actually so much colder than we were expecting!
Luckily we had both worn big thick hoodies from Jack Wills & Hollister for the flight - little did we know they were going to turn out to be life savers on this trip. We knew the first thing we wanted to do was to head to DASH (The Kardashian's Store in Soho) so once again the iPhone was out we had our map telling us which way to head.
After around 30minutes of walking we found it tucked away a few stores down from Chanel on Spring St.. What we hadn't realised is that stores open a bit later in this part of town and DASH didn't open until 11am so instead of waiting around we took a few photos outside and vowed to go back before we left the city so we could have a look round and get some merchandise!
Next stop was The Statue Of Liberty (yup, today was going to be a sight-seers heaven) so we hailed a taxi, which is always awkward when you first get to NY but I'd like to say we are now experts, and we were on our way.
Before we headed over and got our tickets we decided that we needed some breakfast, we saw a little supermarket type shop and thought we'd try out luck. Well this had everything - including a cafe area upstairs to go and eat your purchases! I settled for a chocolate chip pancake (hey I was in New York) and it was huge!! This is the first time I thought to myself their portions are huge and it wouldn't be the last!
Breakfast eaten, a little bit warmer and with a few snacks bought we headed over the road and towards the ticket office.
The queue for The Statue Of Liberty was pretty big but with all sorts of people waiting from all over the world it was quite a good location for people watching. Although saying this this didn't make me feel any warmer and I was so grateful that I had packed my mittens that morning! After about an hour we were in, getting our bags checked and heading towards the boat.
Living on an island I am very used to ferries and this one just felt like I was at home. Growing closer and closer I was getting more and more excited, my friend had been before but this didn't make her any less excited as I. We hopped off the ferry and followed the crowds for a walk around Liberty! This was a perfect spot for photo taking and you'll get to learn from reading these posts that I do tend/love to get a bit snap happy - but I see nothing wrong with this when making memories! You can see the skyline of the city across the water and of course you are up close and personal with The Statue!
We stayed here for probably around half an hour but the wind was so icy cold that we had a quick look around the gift shop, took photos with stupid hat/masks on and walked back to the ferry. Next stop on the ferry was Ellis Island but we decided to skip this as we had lots planned for this day.
We got off the ferry and were greeted with street performers, these awesome guys doing some amazing dancing and gymnastics and had a massive crowd around them. after watching them for a little while we ventured off and went to ask for directions for Ground Zero.
We thought we would have to get a taxi there but after talking to a lovely traffic warden (I think thats what he was anyway) he kindly pointed out to us that "that is the freedom tower right there". We weren't far from it at all so we were off on foot and heading towards the 9/11 site.
I always knew it was be eerie and even standing in the queue you could just feel that everyone around us felt the same. As we were in New York is was something at the top of our list of things to do and I am so so glad we went. Obviously security, like a lot of the landmarks/tourist attractions, is tight and again we went through the metal detectors and bag searches just like at the Statue of Liberty.
We went to ground zero just before the museum had opened so it was just the water fall fountains there at this point.
They are incredible and the size of them just really does make it hit-home how big these buildings were and how many people's lives this affected.
Ground Zero isn't somewhere you hang around for a long time and after a little while we made our way back out and into the store which is situated by the exit.
Now like I said before, this was a major sight-seeing day so yeah you guessed it next stop for us was The Empire State Building.
We got a taxi from Ground Zero and I can't quite remember how long it took but I can't imagine it was long! We were nervous that we were going to have to queue for ages but that wasn't a queue in sight so up we went.
A fairly expensive ticket and 86 floors in a lift (elevator) later and we were at the top... and getting probably the most wind swept I've ever been in my life. What an AMAZING view. You really get to see the beauty and uniqueness of New York and I could of spent ages up there. But with the cold weather and time ticking on we decided to head back down and make our way back to our hotel.
As easy as that sounds we managed to totally and utterly balls it up. We went to a store and got some food for our room back at the hotel and some well needed bottles of water. As we started making our way back to the hotel location we started to noticed that actually we had no idea where we were going. And... I may, MAY, have made a teeny tiny mistake in thinking our hotel was on 152nd when actually it was on 125th (or something like that) so after walking around 52 blocks more than needed and spending some of our trek in a part of New York I would never want to go back again to we made it back to the hotel. Baring in mind we had been up since around 6, and just carried 24 bottles of water alot further than needed, we were exhausted but our day wasn't over.

When planning this trip we made sure we had tickets for a few things while we were in each state. Tonight we had some of those tickets and they were for Spiderman : Turn Off The Dark the musical on Broadway.
Luckily Broadway was only around a 15 minute or so walk from our hotel and we had seen where the theatre was the night we had arrived and gone to Times Square so we knew where we were going.
Our seats were right at the back of the circle but this didn't matter at all - The musical was amazing. If you are in New York and wondering what show to go and see I would definitely recommended it! Where else are you going to have Spiderman running out of the door right next to you and jumping off of the balcony. So so brilliant, modern and unique with an amazing cast, storyline, soundtrack and set. (I've even got the CD and love singing along).

We left Broadway and it was chucking it down with rain but instead of trying to hail a taxi with the hundreds of other people around we decided just to go for it and walk as fast as we could. And that was our first full day in New York done and dusted.

NEXT POST - Seals, Polar Bears, Central Park & a spot of shopping.....

The Colours Of The Rainbow Tag - Beauty & Fashion

After seeing Ingrid (MissGlamorazzi) & Elle (AllThatGlitters21) do this tag video on YouTube it gave me the idea to put it into a blog post!
The ideas is too pick your favoutite beauty product/s for each of the colours of the rainbow - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet PLUS Pink and multicoloured  because hey, we are girls and we love those things...duh!
Now obviously the actually product doesn't have to be that colour, as lets be honest there arent that many indigo moisturisers or green lip glosses out there on the market, so it can also be anything on the packaging for the product or even the name too!

I am most likely going to have a number of items for each colour as I am so so indecisive AND I'm also going to be using some fashion favourites to make it a bit more interesting!

1. RED

Mac Lipstick in M.A.C. RED - I really love this colour it's probably a slight shade darker than all my other 'pillar box bright red' lipsticks so I like that it's a bit different. I am a big fan of mac lipsticks, the colours and overall affect are always of a really high quality and look great for both day and evenings.
Bath & Body Works Pocket Anti-Bac in Paint The Town Red - I am such an over user of anti-bacterial hand gels and always have at least 2 floating around in my handbag. So when I went to America last year I knew that I wanted to get some of the infamous B&BW hand gels that I'd seen and heard so much about. The scent to them ALL is amazing and  this one being no exception. With the scent being 'strawberry kiss'  it smells good enough to eat and with it's name I thought it would be perfect to include in this tag!

2. Orange

Matalan Horse Embellished Clutch Bag - I go this bag probably at the beginning of the year and it was only £5 in the sale! I have seen many other version of this clutch at places like ASOS and they have always been alot more expensive so I was so happy to get a bargain. It is perfect for a night-out and I love using it as a pop of colour with a plain outfit or matching it to other orange/coral colours that I am wearing. ( and it fits so much in it which is great for me as I like to be prepared for everything)
Essie Nail Polish in Meet Me At Sunset - This is the first Essie product I have owned and it was actually given to me for Christmas. It has made me immediately fall in love with their nail polishes and that is mainly because I am so bad at applying polish and this brush made it 100 times easier! The colour is a darker burnt orange colour and I love it. I recently when to an "Orange themed" birthday party and wore this, it was perfect.

3. Yellow

Soap And Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk - (this is a very pale yellow although it doesn't seem to have shown up in the photo) It will come to no surprise to you that the number 1 reason why I love this product is the scent. Soap and glory have an amazing way of making anything smell incredible and this is one of my favourites. This body milk uses almond, cocoa, yogurt, oat and honey and is a deep moisturising lotion which I use everyday after a shower. If you get dry or rough skin this product is fantastic it features a 'waterlock mositure trapping matrix' and makes your skin feels great.
e.l.f. Mineral Bamboo Make-up Brushes - I always think that the better your brushes, the better your make-up will look. You aren't going to get an amazing smokey eye using 3 different colours by using your fingers. But that doesn't always mean you have to spend huge amounts. I've had these brushes probably for about a year now and they are my go-to brushes whenever I'm going for a night-out and want a full-face of make-up. The eyeshadow/concealer brushes in particular are brilliant and work perfectly with my Urban Decay Naked Palette (which for me is my favourite) and the eyeliner brush I actually use daily for my HD Brows palette.

4. Green

Primark plimsolls - I purchased these last month as I thought the colour was just perfect for spring and summer this year. They were only £3 and having had these type of shoes before from Primark I knew they would be worth the cheap price. I can't wait to wear these with some cute frilly ankle socks and think they could go with pretty much any outfit.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser - If I was only ever allowed to give one piece of skincare/make-up removal advice for the rest of my life it would be to use this product. I am a known mascara over-user and wear a high coverage foundations and powder and yet still this product gets my face cleaner and fresher than any other make-up remover or cleanser I have ever used and it smells great.

5. Blue

Vaseline - This is probably an obvious one to you all but vaseline has got to be in here. I am prone for getting dry sore lips and this is always on my bedside table just in case it's a classic and I have used it in for years and years.
Primark Blue Polka Dot Shirt - Back to Primark again and this super cute shirt I picked up last month. I love the sort of 80s/90s look it has and have worn it loads since I got it! Can't wait to wear it over the summer with some dungarees and will definitely be in my Festival gear.

6. Indigo
Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy Perfume - When I worked in a fashion retail store I was always getting girls walk past me with this perfume on and I would always wonder what it was because I loved it. If you don't like sweet scents this is definitely not a perfume for you. It is a super sweet strong smelling perfume, very sugary and it stays on your skin/clothing for hours. I've had this perfume for a couple of years now and even thought it's quite a cheap perfume compared to others I own it's still one that I reach for most days.

7. Violet
Travalo   (I am aware that this may technically not be "violet" but it's the closest I'm getting. ) If you've never heard of these then you need to get yourself onto google/amazon right now and check them out. It is a super quick and easy, mess-free way to take your perfume out and about with you when you are on the go. I originally bought 2 of these for when I went travelling and they were perfect - I wasn't taking any breakables, I had 2 different scents and I was basically taking up no space in my bag. They are fantastic and I don't leave home without one.

8. Pink

Victoria's Secret Illuminating Face Powder in All Or Nothing - This is by far the best powder highlighter I've ever used. Again I bought this in the states so I try only to use it on special occasions as I am dreading the day it runs out as I am nowhere near a Victoria's Secret where I live. It is super shimmery pink which looks great both on the cheek bones and on the brow bones and I believe it was around $18.
Barry M Lip glosses -  In my opinion Barry M have some of the best lip products on the UK market and I use them constantly.
The Lip glosses I have pictured are number 5 which is Bubblegum, this literally smells like bubblegum and I am addicted. This is my number 1 favourite lipgloss of all time and I have lost count of how many I've been through over the years. The other is number 11 which is Coral and again this smells incredible.
The lipglosses are really smooth, highly pigmented and not sticky at all (which is what I HATE) and they only cost around £4.50 each. They are by far the best lipglosses I own and I would recommend them to anyone. There are so many other shades and colours too so check them out (I highly recommend Number 2 in Toffee which guess what... smells like toffee is a gorgeous nude colour - another fav of mine!)

9. Multicoloured
My Kindle Case - I know this isn't beauty or fashion related but it is still revelant to my blog, well that's how I like to think of it!
This case is from TruffleShuffle and is by a brand called 'Run For Covers'! I have always loved The Wizard Of Oz and anything to do with it (hench the name of the blog) so when I saw this was available for kindle I bought it straight away. It's good quality, light, protects my kindle well and I love having a case that's a bit different.

Thank you so much for reading this post and please let me know in the comments what you think of it and if you have tried or own any of the products/items I have mentioned :-)
