NEW Rodial Make-up : First Impressions

Did someone say NEW make-up?
Rodial are known for their amazing high-end skincare products and over the past year I have fallen in love with everything I've tried! Now they have decided to widen their range of make-up so I was super super thrilled to be asked if I'd like to give them a go.... life can be pretty sweet you know!

I've been sent 7 of their snazzy new products ranging from an eyeliner to a gorgeous contouring powder! So sit back, relax and check out my first impressions and thoughts!
 NEW Rodial Make-up featured:

Rodial have really set the high-end tone nicely with this make-up range. The boxing and packaging is all super sleek and professional looking - such a treat for me!
The first thing I decided to try out was the instaglam airbrush primer!
You may remember my post from a couple of weeks ago about my 5 favourites that I'm a big fan of primers! I cannot do a face of make-up without one and I am constantly on the look-out for newbies to give a go!
I was chuffed that this was included in the products sent to me by those lovely Rodial people - they know me well! The primer itself has a clear, smooth moisturising consistency which reminds me alot of the Laura Mercier primer.
It has a lovely scent, the same as the scent to The Hangover Mask from Rodial - fresh and slightly fruity and makes a lovely smooth base for my foundation and concealer to sit on!
This is perfect for these colder months for me as it is slightly more moisturising that other more sillicone based primers I have so it's great on those pesky dry patches!

Next up it's the hyaluronic cheek sculpt (yup, that's a long old word isn't it!) This was actually the only product I had a little "ooo what do I do with this?" kind of thought with when opening it!
When I popped a swatch onto my hand to check it out I thought - woah that's bloomin' bright - panic!  But after blending it I saw it turn into a gorgeous glowing tint which I was super excited to plaster onto my face!
The product is made for the apple's of your cheeks. the coral shade adds a subtle and pretty glow while the hyaluronic acids helps to plump up the skin - so this is great for all ages!
Favourite new product alert! I have been looking for a new face powder for a while now! I got bored of all the ones I owned - the only one I felt did a good job was my elf HD powder but I normally only use that for a "night out" - it's a loose powder and gets super messy too which annoys me!
So when I saw this instaglam powder I did a little excitement quiver (if you've watched a certain TV show you'll know what that is!) - a gorgeous HD translucent powder perfect for everyday use!
I have literally used this everyday since trying it out, I use the powder brush from real techniques to glide it over my foundation - which gives me a flawless finish and helps my foundation stay on all day. It is priced at £52, which yes is a little expensive compared to my usual budget but this has worked so well for me and I don't have to use alot so I feel like it would last me a long while which totally makes it worth it!
Another compact now, the instaglam contouring powder. Contouring is something I have been playing around with alot over the past few months it really seems to have taken over the beauty world!
This is a beautiful matte sculpting powder which makes defining and contouring as easy as 1,2,3. Rodial themselves have written some great tips on how to use the powder - here.
I have now added this into my daily make-up routine alongside either my Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter from theBalm or the cheeky little product below- they both make a great pairing!
An Instaglam highlighter now! It's not actually that often that I use a pen highlighter, I normally stick to powders or my fav skin wow from seventeen. These are normally pink based shades and I don't really own alot of things that are yellow toned so I was looking forward to seeing how it was with my skin.
This is great for illuminating certain aspects of my face - I love using it to slim my nose down (yes, I'm quite vain like that!) and it is also lovely to use alongside eyeshadows, it's fab in my tear ducts and on my brow bones.
Damn the mascara making a mess!

The eye duo I've been trying out are the smokey eye pencil in brown and the Glamolash mascara.
I have fairly small eyes so I rarely use heavy eyeliner as my eyes become non-existent, so a brown shade is great for me as it isn't as harsh as black. This is great for just lining the eyes alone or smudging to create a smokey eye effect and it lasts, like seriously lasts for hours! It is £17 but honestly, for me, is so much better quality that any eyeliners I've tried from high street drugstores.
Practice makes perfect so I'm going to try out lots of different looks with this pencil.

Mascara is a must for me - all day, everyday. I have the shortest more stumpiest eyelashes which are pretty much the bain of my life!  This has been amazing used alongside my regular mascara. Once I've lengthened them I use this to really plump them out and gain a great flutter, I'm really impressed with it.

So, all in all I am LOVING these new products from Rodial - the prices are definitely more than your usual high street brands but sometimes paying more really pays off and I believe with these it does, the powders espescially!
I hope you liked this post - let me know if you've tried any of the make-up range from Rodial or if you would like to know anything else about what I've tried out!

POTW #15 : Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder

Product of the week time once again! I find it crazy how fast every Friday seems to come round! Weeks are just flying by this year - how is it nearly June?! It will be Christmas and winter coat time again before we know it!
Sorry... I'll get back to the subject of this post and that subject being .... my Product Of The Week (duh!) which is the fabulous Rose Silk Finishing Powder from Jurlique!
Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder*
This one of a few products from this brand which have recently made their way into my life and onto my face! So bare that in mind as I'm sure you'll be seeing alot more from them on A Yellow Brick Blog in the next few weeks or so! (To get a quick load down on this brand - click here!)

This is a gorgeous loose finishing powder from Jurlique's fabulous Rose collection. I've never been one to pick out Rose as a scent for products - if it has been an option for me before it hasn't been something that I've been drawn too.
Well... I was missing out wasn't I!
First up I'll talk about the scent. Guess what - it smells like roses
Yes, it is very floral so if you aren't a fan of potent scents like that then this stuff (and particular range) definitely isn't for you.
My opinion however is....... I love it! I find the scent so calming and it makes me feel refreshed and ready for the day when I pop it on.
I've been using this stuff every day as a last step to my make-up routine.
I don't own to many loose powders as I find them quite messy and I find a pressed powder alot easier to work with but the packaging of this powder is great and I haven't made alot of mess at all - phew!
For me though, I don't find a puff great for application so I give the pot a little shake to disperse some of the product out and use my big powder brush from real techniques too sweep it all over my face.

It is a very lightweight powder and you don't need alot to cover your whole face. It helps give my face a smooth finish and a has lovely soothing feel - top marks Jurlique.
I've also noticed how much better and brighter my complexion has been throughout the day - alot more "radiant" shall we say and some usually oily patches have become less noticeable!

Even thought this is a newbie in my make-up collection it is firmly staying in my everyday make-up routine from now on!

Boots Half Price Sale Haul Part 1

Hello again you lovely lot!
So it has been nearly a WEEK since I last posted and it actually has felt like a lifetime. But in my defence it has been the week of festiveness (aka Christmas) so I have been super busy with family, friends and work (booo hiss booo) !
Now we all know what comes after Christmas (well ... all us beauty addicts know...) - the Boots half price sale! All those gifts, perfume sets and goodies with massive savings which you literally cannot say no too!

Obviously I got a little over excited and bought...LOADS - but this was totes acceptable as I bought alot of it with my advantage card points that I had been saving up!
Because I have bought alot I thought I would spilt it into 3 different hauls... so here is Numero Uno! (these things were bought both online and in store!)

Taylor By Taylor Swift 30ml Gift Set
WAS £23 NOW £11.50
This was a no-brainer for me! Everyone knows that I love Taylor Swift! She is a total babe and I love her music. Obviously I already own this and it was actually in one of my monthly favourites posts back in the summer but I am just about to run out so this was perfect timing! As well as a bath gel and a body lotion you get the 30ml perfume - a bargain if ever I did see one! (and this may not be the only perfume set I bought.......)

Soap & Glory - Powder Trip
WAS £20 NOW £10
Now this was something that I had eyed up before the sale but couldn't part we £20 before Christmas and the fact that the powder aren't in separate compacts did put me off a bit! But as it was half price I thought I'd give it a go as they are all products I have looked at individually! This set contains GLOW ALL OUT a Luminizing Face Powder, LOVE AT FIRST BLUSH a shimmer blushing powder and SOLAR POWDER a multi-shade bronzer. I've heard and read such great things about all 3 of these products so can't wait to try them out!

Baylis & Harding beauticology Mini Trio
WAS £4 NOW £2
I bought this for both my Blogger Secret Santa's this year and was so jealous when I was wrapping them up! This is something I knew I was going to try and get when it went into the sale and I am so glad I managed to grab one online! Such yummy smells - I'm a sucker for yummy smells!

Boots Extracts Cocoa Butter Collection
WAS £10 NOW £5
Another bargain that I just couldn't say no too! The body butter alone is around £7 out on the shelves so why would I not want all 3 for just £5? I love cocoa butter - always have done, can't wait to use this trio!

Fearne Kiss & Tell Lip Set
WAS £10 NOW £5
Every year I seem to get some Fearne goodies from Boots. I don't have any lip crayons (shame on me I know) so I'm really looking forward to trying out these!
Such a great range of shades and a sharpener included! Which is great as I always worry I'm going to ruin things like this with some of the sharpeners I own! For £1 per item... how could I not!

So there we have it - Haul #1 done! Keep your eyes peeled for numbers 2 and 3 which are coming up very soon! I bought such a wide range of different products which I am so happy with - I'm a total bargain hunter and love haring them with you all - have you guys bought anything in the Boots sale?!
(I am really sorry about the quality of my photos aswell at the moment, really struggling with good lightening where I work full-time, hopefully they will improve soon!)

Also a HUGE thank you to all you beautiful people as today I hit 800 followers on Bloglovin! Something I have wanted for so long and I'm nearly at 100,000 blog views aswell, I am so so chuffed and grateful to all of you - you make all this hard work even funner for me!
