A New Look : London Retro - Piccadilly Glasses

Why yes that is me - and yes I am wearing glasses, you like?

When I was asked if I'd like to try out a new pair of glasses from Glasses Direct - I jumped at the chance. It's been a loooong time since I picked out new frames and the ones I did have were so dated and made me look like a 46 year old librarian ..... they really weren't great.

So being able to try something completely new and giving myself a new look had me really excited!
I knew I wanted to go for something a bit bigger than my previous frames, I have a big face (yes I can except it.) so small glasses just don't really do me any favours!

I ended up going with the London Retro Piccadilly frames which you can see below in all their glory :)

Glasses Direct are a fantastic website for both men and woman and have a huge range of designers to choose from.
It's also great for someone like me who is a little bit fussy and wants things just right - so to help you pick your favourite pair they offer a fab Free 7 day trial. (genius!)

Just pick 4 frames you like the look of and GD will send them out to you within 2 days. You can then try them out for real, pick your favourite and the order them! Easy peasy and no awkward ordering and regretting!
I am absolutely loving these from London Retro and definitely think I made the right choice with Piccadilly! They are plain black which I love as they go with everything (unlike my previous red things!) and I love the slight cat eye style.

I was also really intruiged to see that London Retro have teamed up with designer Nicholas King to create a limited edition range! This range of statement eyewear is to support the worldwide eye care charity Orbis - who you can find out more about right here.
Anything that helps a charity out is all good in my books, especially when you're getting something awesome for yourself at the same time, the range is available exclusively at Glassesdirect.co.uk and all profits will be donated to the wonderful people at Orbis.

So... what do you think of my new look?

6 Shades For Summer

With it being May already and those warmer months being just around the corner, I thought it was about time that I started talking SUMMER over here on A Yellow Brick Blog! (waits for round of applause and woop woop's all round)

Not long now and we'll be sipping cocktails in the sun, heading to Festivals, wearing dresses without god damn tights and whipping out those bright and bold lip shades!

When it comes to summer and sunshine I love rocking bright, fun shades and it's one of my favourite times to try out new products and splurge my dollar!
So here are 6 of the shades that I will be rocking for sure over the next few months!
Left to right :

Bourjois Aqua Laque - 06 Feeling Reddy
This is one of the newest products from Bourjois' range. After the awesome success of their Rouge Velvet collection they have bought out the gorgeous Aqua range. Shiny, glosses liquid lipstick with an amazing staying power! I just had to pick up this bright red shade for summer.
 L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick - 401 Fuschia Drama
One of my ultimate favourites here. I bought this as soon as it was released and it has been in my most worn pile of products ever since then. I love fuschia shades and this liquid lipstick is gorgeous. I wear it at work alot and it stays on so, so well.
 L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick - 201 Rose Symphony
You probably already saw me talking about it earlier this week, with an awesome offer available I couldn't not purchase this. The most subtle of the shades I've picked, this is perfect for everyday wear and great to wear with all those pretty florals we like to rock.
Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick - 110
A classic now. Rimmel's Kate Moss collection is my favourite drug store lipstick collection, hands down. This is a gorgeous matte coral - a bright shade to suit a number of different skin tones and great for a smaller budget.
MAC Lipstick - Candy Yum Yum
Now.... this is a BRIGHT one! Another matte product and another personal favourite of mine. I LOVE wearing this to festivals!
MAC Lipstick - Impassioned
Last but not least we have Impassioned, one of my favourite MAC products I own. This shade is like nothing else I own (and I'm not going to lie.. I own alot) which definitely helps it stand out in my collection. It's one of those shades that you can recognise on someone in a second, I don't think I'll ever get bored of pinks you know.
Feeling Reddy | Fuchsia Drama | Rose Symphony | 110 | Candy Yum Yum | Impassioned

What are your favourite summer shades? I'd love to know your MAC top picks... I fancy treating myself for this upcoming season!

My MAC Lipstick Collection

I'm a huge fan of reading posts like these. MAC have so much choice is ridiculous, so knowing what people have picked out is something that always intrigues and interests me! I don't own hundreds on MAC products but the ones I do have I love to bits which brings me to today's post.

This is my MAC lipstick collection (minus my new Cinderella collection lipstick which has arrived yet!) , Yay to lipsticks and owning more and more every month haha!
Velvet Teddy
The newest in my collection - I had been eyeing this up for a long, long while.... mainly because of Kylie Jenner and her awesome nude lips! This isn't a colour I would normally go for but I have fallen in love with it! I've been wearing it alongside my Whirl lip liner and I love it.

Siagon Summer
This is definitely a summer shade - a fab orange tone, great with a tan and fun bright clothing and I think the name is so pretty.

M.A.C. Red
A total classic here. Everyone needs a red lipstick (or 30-odd in my case!) and this one is fab for a gorgeous sultry, lip-popping look.

Rebel
Hands down one of my most worn lipsticks ever. I was always a bit dubious when the dark lip trend started but I have learned to love it, it won't be long before I'm going to have to invest in another one of these beautys.

Herione
If you're looking for a fun bright purple - this is it. I got this in Florida after wanting it for months and I have not been disappointed, I just can't wait to wear it constantly this summer!

Girl About Town
I would have to say this is my "go-to" lipstick, a colour I feel like I can pull off whatever I'm doing, day or night. A great fuschia shade which I have got ALOT of wear out of!

Viva Glam Miley Cyrus
Another newbie now - I have been going through a bit of a spending stage and have bought 3 new mac lipsticks in the last month or so... slap me on the wrist someone and hide my bank cards! I LOVE this colour, high five Miley! (Plus money from these purchases goes toward charity so it's a win-win really!)

Candy Yum Yum
The brightest of them all now! I have to be in a real confident and vibrant mood to pull this off - perfect for festivals and parties in the sun!

Impassioned
This is such an unique shade, I don't have anything else like it and I've had friends just look at me and know what shade it is! A lovely coral-pink with amazing pigmentation just like the rest of them, this is great if you fancy trying something new.

Viva Glam Nicki Minaj
This was the first MAC lipstick I ever bought and I got it from the store in Times Square, NYC. This lipstick brings back so many happy memories of America - I have no idea if you can still get your hands on it?!

Pink Pearl Pop
Another one bought whilst in Florida last year now! I was just browsing the counter and stumbled across this one - we didn't have long til our gate opened so I thought I'd just buy it! It's a fair bit sheerer than most of the others I own but it makes it perfect for work or when I'm doing a real minimal look.

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks?

3 Fab Lipstick Dupes

I love a good dupe when it comes to make-up, but then again who doesn't?!
Knowing that you can get nearly the same fab product but for a fraction of the product's price tag is one good feeling!
I'm always reading and looking out for other bloggers dupe posts so I thought it was about time that I started sharing with you guys dupe that's I have discovered over the last few years!
First up is three lipsticks that I seem to have copycats of - I love higher end and drugstore lipsticks just as much as each other... just FYI!
Lipstick Dupe #1
Mac Girl About Town (£15) VS Rimmel Moisture Renew Lily Extase (6.49)
Saving : £8.51
If you've read my blog before you may know that Girl About Town is my favourite Mac lipstick that I own!
I am such a fuchsia lover and it's always a go-to shade for me! It wasn't until recently that I noticed stumbled across this lipstick by Rimmel in my collection and saw how similar they are!
I know that the Moisture Renew lipsticks have had a bit of a make-over recently so I'm not sure if this shade is still available but if you can get your hands on it I highly recommend you do! They are both super hydrating, pigmented and have a great long-lasting finish.
Lipstick Dupe #2
No7 Stay Perfect Gay Geranium (£9.75) VS Seventeen Stay Pout Make An Entrance (£4.49)
Saving : £5.26
These are both Boots brands and I think most people see Seventeen as the "younger, hipper" version of the formal No7.
Even the name of the products are similar, the only main difference being the price! The Seventeen lipstick is less than half the price of the No7 and for me the quality is totally equal! The colours of both are stunning and so stand out, although the Stay Pout is only very slightly darker than the Stay Perfect!
Lipstick Dupe #3
Mac Matte Lipstick Candy Yum-Yum (£15) VS Barry M Lip Paint 62 (£4.49)
Saving : £10.51
This is probably the best dupe I've found so far! I have been buying Barry M lipsticks and glosses for years and really do swear by them! The colours are amazing and they are still some of the cheapest on the drugstore market!
Of course I LOVE my Mac lipstick but if you aren't up for paying the price of mac or just wanted to see weather a colour this vibrant would suit you before splashing out the Barry M alternative is totally and utterly perfect!
So there's 3 fab dupes for you all - let me know weather you like this type of post and if you would like to see anymore!

Mac Matte Lipstick - Candy Yum-Yum Review

I told you they'd be more! Number 2 review of my new lipsticks is here (Check out my review of Impassioned here)
Today it is all about Mac Matte Lipstick in - Candy Yum-Yum.
Candy Yum-Yum is one of the Mac lipsticks I have been umming and arring for so long about getting. Just the name has me sold - that seems like the best job in the world... making up names for shades -  how do I go about applying for this?! Anyway....

I didn't actually realise this was a matte shade - I'm so blonde sometimes! I only own a couple of matte shades but am definitely a fan.
Even though it is matte it still has a gorgeous sheen about it and doesn't feel drying at all.
I would recommend using a good lip scrub before using this too - lipsticks always need a good base to work well.
TIP : If you don't have, want or like lip scrubs then invest in just a cheap manual toothbrush, use in a circular motions over your lips a couple of times a week for soft, flawless lips!
The pigmentation is, like all Mac lipsticks, gorgeous! Just one swipe gives a fabulous opaque colour - which like I said before is always what I look for in a lipstick.

If you like brights - this is the shade for you! A vivid fuchsia pink which stands out a mile will having you looking and feeling girly and glam in seconds!
Perfect for summer days and girl's night's out - this would go so well with both a simple daytime eye and a something a bit more full-on with a pair of false lashes!
What do you think then girls? Love it? Want it? Own it? .. or does a shade so bright scare you?
