If you have read AlohaKirstie for a while now you will KNOW that I am a total sucker for a face mask. Whether it be a 99p sachet or a £50 glamorous concoction of gold flakes and god knows what else.
I love to give my skin a total pamper and detox at least once a week and my favourite way to do this is with a face mask.

The Perfect Friday Night In
As I've gotten older night's in have definitely become more desirable in my eyes. After a long week at work the thought of chilling out before a weekend of jam-packed plans really does float my boat.
(Don't get me wrong though I'm all for a mojito or two with the girls now and again aswell, but on a rare occasion!)
I always love getting all my bits and bobs ready for my night in - the thought of a pamper session, snacks, pyjamas and a good book to delve into really does help me get through the Friday slogg of work.
So I thought I'd give you a little look into what I, 27 year old Kirstie who works Mon-Fri, loves to do on a quiet Friday Night In! #GrandmaStyle
1. Pamper
A bit of girly 'me time' is always top of the list when I have an evening with no plans (and even better... no boyfriend lurking around!). I tend to treat my skin to a fancy face mask and my hair to either a hair mask or a good, thick layer of coconut oil. If I know I'm going to have time to wash my hair the next morning (aka non-gym mornings) I'll always pick the coconut oil, slap it on root to tip and sleep with it on there. I've been using the Protein World Coconut Oil which I always grab when it's on offer at Superdrug which always makes my hair feel fabulous, soft, shiny and definitley a bit healthier!
Face masks, as you will know if you've been reading this blog for a while, are my FAVOURITE skincare treat! Forget oils, serums and creams - I'm a sucker for a quick fix face mask, I couldn't even tell you how many I've tried over the years!
So when I was offered a fabulous bubble face mask from Skin Republic to try I couldn't say no, a bubble mask?! Well that's new to me!
This purifying face sheet mask is made from activated charcoal powder, which 'when applied reacts with the air to create a deep cleansing, exfoliating foam, for a more radiant, clean and clear complexion'! Something I seriously NEEDED to try after a few months of not being overly great to myself or my skin.
Sheet masks are always terrifying - you could be a Victoria Secret model and you'd still make someone jump and this one is no exception! In fact this was the weirdest face mask I've ever used BUT my skin is feeling great after 15 minutes of having a bubble face!
Check out my Instagram/Twitter for a few hilarious snaps of it in action - thanks Skin Republic!
2. Comfort
Pyjamas, pyjamas, pyjamas - one of the world's greatest gifts! I pretty much live for taking off my bra and putting on pyjamas at the end of each day. I get a wave of relaxation over me once I've popped on those (most likely Primark) comfy bottoms and oversized top for the evening - and once I've put on my pyjamas that me written off for the day - I won't be leaving the house or doing anything strenuous from then on!
(Pictured : Harry Potter PJs, Primark)
3. Treat
Pretty much a given for me.
Nights in for me do consist of a lot of green tea though - my absolute favourite drink. Yes, as well as being a total water freak I love green tea, I suppose that is the one perfect thing about my diet, those two things are pretty much the only things I drink unless I'm 'out-out'!
As well as tea I, of course, have to have a treaat or two! My favourite thing ever is sweet popcorn with chocolate m&m's poured in (don't judge me and my sugar addiction please) but seeing as I'm trying to be a little healthier I can settle for a Nakd bar. I love these little things.... I still can't quite grasp how they get the flavours so damn on point with each bar, rhubarb and custard, gingerbread, bakewell tart ... they are all so yummy!
4. Scent
Candles, one of my greatest loves in life. There's nothing better than filling a room/home with a lovely scent, creating a peaceful and calm atmosphere is essential for a good night in.
Recently I have been loving the new Tobacco Flower* candle from Yankee Candles.
This is from the new Viva Havana summer collection and is a powerful blend of ginger, cedarwood, bamboo leaf and jasmine! The scent is fresh and actually really reminds me of Summer - I will a little worried with the word Tobacco being in the name but it's nice and sweet and, like all Yankee candles, gives off a strong scent, filling the room with ease!
5. Escape
Finally, reading, watching, listening - anything that can take my mind off the washing up in the sink or the shopping list on the fridge screaming at me.
Like I said in my previous post I struggle to find time to read even though it's one of my favourite things to do. Time seem to run away from me in the evenings post-gym and dinner I'm half asleep and my eyes can't focus on a TV show let alone text on a page!
So I really like to try and delve into a new story when I can, sometimes that's the most exciting time of a book, opening up the crisp first page and starting a new adventure!
I've had this book sat on my shelf for months now and I'm determined to finish it this month - it's not the usual genre I read so I'm looking forward to exploring something a little different.
I have also made a silent promise to myself that I won't buy any more books until I have read everything I on my book shelf that's yet to be touched.... which is embarrassingly is a fair amount!
What sorts of things do you like to do when you have a cosy night in to yourself?

Montagne Jeunesse Chocoholic Mud Face Mask Review
It's that time once again - another mask review!
Now..... if you saw my tweets last weekend you may know what I'm going to say about this one!
Now..... if you saw my tweets last weekend you may know what I'm going to say about this one!
Another Primark sachet and this time it's - Chocoholic Mud.
Now this stuff was thick, it actually felt like proper mud which made it so lovely to apply. It was so easy to spread and gave a nice thick, even layer with just half the sachet. (A little bit like smearing Nutella all over my face!)
The smell, of course, was super yummy - very much like the Hot Chocolate MJ mask. (which is one of my favourites!)
I left this on for about 20 minutes (the sachet says 15-20 but I was watching Harry Potter so I did leave it on a little longer than I normally would).
When I went to wash it off it was totally set. I love this feeling! But as I began to take it off with a warm muslin I noticed my skin underneath was red and feeling quite warm.
At this point I thought I'd better get this thing off me and ASAP.
I took of the rest of the mask and then got a new muslin cloth, soaked it in cold water and laid it over my face for a out 30 seconds.
This seemed to bring down the temparute of my skin a little but I still looked really red!
I was heading out a short while after this so I started to worry but once I had applied my Nivea hydration primer and got some air to my face it calmed down alot and was nearly unoticeable!
By the evening my skin was looking so clear and glowing - I think maybe I just left the mask on a little longer than I should have for my skin - I've had a similar reaction to 'mud' masks in the past - I think 10-15 minutes is probably better for me!
What mask should I try next?

Montagne Jeunesse Candyfloss Scrub Face Mask Review
You may remember my Instagram posts and tweeting about my trip to Primark late last year.
During this trip I managed to nab some fabulous Montagne Jeunesse face masks which I had never tried before!
All Primark exclusives of course, I was so excited to see lots of sachets I'd not heard of so naturally I bought them all. (They were only 90p each - bargain!)
The one I was most looking forward to trying was this - Candyfloss Scrub. Made with Passion Flower and Lotus Blossom this was said to be a sweet treat for sparkling skin.
Everyone know how much of a sweet fan I am from everything from food to scents to well.... skincare so I couldn't wait to find a new relaxing time to give this one a go.
With this being a scrub mask I thought what better a time to try it out than after a heavy week of partying, eating rubbish and having a pants sleeping pattern (aka the end of December). Something to help totally refresh and rejuvenate my face ready for a new year (and new job!).
I was surprised by the consistency of this to be totally honest, I had pictured a thick, creamy pink scrub but instead I was greated with a clear pink gel with scrubbing beads.
Putting this on my face felt... weird. It smells so yummy - alot like rubbing sweets onto my skin which made me feel like I shouldn't be doing it!
The first step on the sachet is "warm mask" .... there are no details alongside this though so I just rubbed it in my hands for a bit, although I probably should have popped it into some hot water but my brain only told me this AFTER I'd started using it... opps!
After the 15 minutes I took it off with warm water - it went to a kind of creamy white shade once the warm water had been applied so I wasn't sure if that's how it should have looked like when heated but it still seemed to do the job.
My skin felt really soft and any signs are tired, dull skin were gone - yay!
For 90p these masks really are such a skincare bargain - I think people can be put off by the cheap price but the quality of this collection is amazing - I will always be a fan! Now..... when can I try the rest of the ones I bought......

White Chocolate.... for your face!
Well, well, well, it's been a while since one of these sachets graced a post for a review but here we are again!
This week I decided to try out the ever-so-yummy-looking White Chocolate mask.
This had been sat in my bathroom drawer for months and I have no idea why I decided to wait so long to use it, so foolish.
I think this may have come in a gift pack I got from co-op a long while ago.... or I may have picked it up in Primark - I can't be certain.
With cocoa butter and cream - this mask smells amazing. I love the scent of anything cocoa butter so I happily slapped a thick layer of this stuff all around my face - which still left half the sachet left so this is definitely one to share with a friend/partner/mum!
I left the mask on for about 15/20 minutes, it got to that lovely stage of being so hard it cracks a bit - I love this feeling so much, anyone else?
I washed it off gently with warm water and a muslin cloth and was pleased to be met by fresher looking Kirstie than 20mins prior, with skin looking a little bit more awake and feeling super soft.
Another fantastic mask by the team at 7th Heaven, I'm going to have to see if I can pick this one up again for when I'm looking a bit dull and tired... .or I may just have to do an online order..... although my wishlist is so ridiculously long I don't know if it's a good idea haha!

Biore Self-Heating One Minute Mask Review
It's beauty review time once more!
If you've read AYBB for a while you probably know how partial I am to a pampering session - I love a bit of 'me' time.
The number one thing on my pampering list is always a face mask and when I spotted these in the clearance section of Boots last week for only £1 I just had to have them! (Usually priced at £7.99 I got a right Barry bargain here!)
Self-heating masks are probably my favourite kind of masks - I near enough always use the Montagne Jeunesse/7th Heaven sachets so I was looking forward to trying something at a slightly higher price point.
You get 4 sachets in the pack - a good months worth for me as I only tend to do a mask once a week!
What's special about about this mask you ask?
Well.... the clue is in the name - it only takes a minute! (*girl... to fall in love, fall in love.* - sorry Take That moment!)
Anywho - yes!
This is a one minute mask - all you need to do is dampen your clean skin (I usually do this just as I've take my make-up off so my face is still wet) and pop the mask on with your fingers, your skin must be wet as the mask is activated by water!
The warmth along with the natural charcoal ingredient help to open up your pores and draw out deep down dirt, oils and impurities leaving the skin feeling soft and refreshed.
As you massage the sachet over your face the warming is activated and you can feel your skin getting a deep, healthy cleanse.
After just a minute all you have to do is wash the mask off with warm water - the mask does not dry.
This was so super easy and I found that the mask, unlike others I've used, comes off so quickly and effortlessly leaving my skin feeling completely rejuvenated.
The size is actually perfect, most of the time when I use a sachet mask I only use half or 3/4 of the mask and because they tend to be a bit messy I always chuck the rest away. These sachets are slightly smaller than normal but the actual perfect size for a one-use mask.
The consistency of the mask is fairly thick until you mix it with the water on your face/fingers which makes it thinner and easily to massage across your face.
Scent wise.... I have a bit of blocked nose at the moment haha so didn't really smell anything to be honest!
I'm really chuffed by the how well this worked and how handy they are - for the price I got them I'm blown away.
Perfect for a quick fix me up, you really do only need a minute.
My skin hasn't felt this cleansed for weeks - I'll definitely be using the rest of the packet on the lead up to Christmas this year to insure flawless skin.

5 Things I Love To Do When It's Raining
Well.... August hasn't really turned into the hot and sunny month we are (kind of) used to has it?
As I sit here writing this I'm looking out the window to a seriously grey and soggy looking England - booooo!
When I have a day off work and it's raining I'm not going to lie.... I kind of love it!
It's always a fab excuse to have some 'me' time and chill out by doing some of my favourite things - yes call me lazy if you want too but sometimes you just need to have a good relaxation session!
1. Become best friends with my TV
TV show marathons, favourite movies or just catching up - there's nothing more relaxing for me than being in comfortable clothing (aka pjs and a huge sweater), with a blanket on my sofa with a nice cup of tea watching some good old TV!
My favourite shows at the moment have to be : Total Divas, Devious Maids, Little Women NY, Dance Moms, Catfish & UnReal! And my favourite movies to watch on a rainy day are : The Help, Love Rosie, Just Go With It, Harry Potter & Beauty & The Beast.
I'm currently reading Holly Madison's biography (which is bloody brilliant!) and my favourite mags are Glamour, Cosmo & heat!
3. Online (window) Shopping
Guilty!!! I'm a sucker for grabbing my phone/ipad/laptop having a browse online, making a shopping list/wishlist if it's before payday or having a spend up if it's after!
My go-to website for clothing is ASOS. The ASOS sale literally rules my life - I think I look through it daily..... but it's just so so good!
4. Organise & Declutter My Life
When it's raining outside and the thought of venturing out is just a resounding NO then I find I'm so easily motivated to organise my life! Everything from clothing to my make-up storage, there's something so satisfying about clearing things out and giving things a make-over! I love a good wardrobe clearout and I'm currently adding lots and lots to my eBay! Goodbye clutter hello pennies!
5. Have A Girly Pamper
YES! You girls must all agree with me! If you aren't planning on heading out at all for the day then what's better than getting out your favourite treatments and treats to give yourself a full on overhaul. Facemasks, hair masks, shaving, fake tanning, pedicures, nail painting - the works! Being a girl is THE best!

Latest In Beauty Capital FM Best Of Summer Beauty Box
It's been a while since I've talked beauty boxes. To be totally honest it has to be a pretty special box to catch my eye or impress, over the years I've had some that just haven't been worth pennies I've forked out for them and it's resulted in me not being subscribed to any!7
I was recently contacted by Latest In Beauty and was told all about their Best Of Summer box being released by them this month partnered with the fabulous Capital FM!
After having a sneak peek at what was featured in the box, of course I took the opportunity to own one of my very own!
Unlike other beauty boxes Latest In Beauty is a non-subscription beauty box service, so you can pick and choose which one/s of the seasonal boxes you want - alot easier in my opinion, no commitments is good with me!
This particular box is in collaboration with Capital FM and is jam-packed with 10 amazing beauty products and a couple of promo codes for this sizzling summer!
First of all I just want to say how impressed I am at the packing of the box. That may sounds stupid but this thing was packed to the brim, with everything having a perfect little slot and position, I was so impressed at how it all fit in there! (I obviously tried to put it all back in and failed miserably aswell!)
The range of brands and different types of products is brilliant, there's everything from mascara to dry shampoo to lip balm! Most of them are full sized items which made me really happy and I actually hadn't tried any of these items before which made it even better!

List of products included :
CARMEX Moisture Plus Lip Balm In Berry
I'm a big Carmex fan and I love that these are so easy to apply - no sticking fingers in pots needed! Plus this has a hint of colour which is perfect for summer, I hate it when my lipsticks melt!
COLAB Sheer + Invisible Paris Floral Fragrance Dry Shampoo
I was SO pleased to find this in the box as I have been dying to try this stuff out! I'm a huge fan of Ruth and have heard amazing things about this range so I'll be breaking my dry shampoo fear for this mini bottle! (It smells delish!)
DR. ORGANIC Dead Sea Minerals Bio-Plasma Mud Mask
Face masks are my favourite little pampering treat to do each week and I am always up for trying newbies! My mum spotted this and mentioned how much she loves the brand so I'm really loooking forward to giving this a go! My skin is in dire need of a detox.
FUDGE URBAN Hair Art Spray - Violet Haze
YES! Hair chalk.... but in a spray! SO much easier and washes straight out! The perfect way to funk up your do without permanent colouring.
HAWAIIAN TROPIC Satin Protection Ultra Radiance SPF 30
I love this brand and it's fairly expensive even for these miniature bottles, this is going to come in so handy for day trips out in the sunshine when I'm only taking a small bag!
I LOVE.... Perfectly Peachy Bath & Shower Creme Sachet
I'm really looking forward to trying this fresh and fruity body wash - it also comes with a great how-to guide on checking your breasts and what symptoms to look out for which I'll be keeping in my bathroom from now on.
MALIN & GOETZ trio - Cleanser, Moisturiser, Lip Balm
A few more miniatures here - and a brand in which I've never tried. These are only small so will only provide a few uses but it's a great way to try out something I probably wouldn't have before. I popped on a bit of the lip balm earlier and it felt gorgeous!
MUA Mega Volume Mascara
Can't say no to a new mascara really can you!?
MUA Eyeshadow Palette
Basically summer in a palette here - I know MUA isn't the most expensive brand but still this is a fab product to be included in the summer box! The colours are fun and vibrant and will be so much fun to play around with.
NAILS INC Gel Effect Nail Polish
Last but not least but favourite product of the bunch, I've already painted my nails with this ( as you may have spotted it on Instagram!) - the shade is a beautiful aqua green/blue and reminds me alot of Tiffany & Co! I'm hoping the fact that it's a gel effect polish will make it last a little bit longer than my usual 'chipped after a day' nails too!
There's also 2 cheeky discount codes included for a couple of the brands too, in which you can save upto 20%!
As I mentioned previously, the box is £17.95 - which I think is fantastic value for the amount you get inside! The nail polish alone I'd happily pay £7-8 for! If you want to check it out just clickedy click - here!

Montagne Jeunesse 7th Heaven Banana & Honey Masque Review
I don't think I've ever taken a photo with such a white background haha, it kind of looks like a stock image but I assure you I took it.
Anyway... back to what I'm actually meant to be talking about..... a new face mask!
I mentioned this 7th Heaven mask a few weeks ago and I said I'd let you know how it was after I had tired it on.
This is the Banana & Honey Masque, aimed to clean and soothe your skin in just 15 minutes. At only £1 I feel like these masks are always worth a go and even if you find you don't really like it then just pick up another and try again.
Usually I'm pretty lucky and get on with most of them, this being no exception. I've learnt that I'm not one for peel off masks so I tend to steer clear of those and go for the wash off versions instead.
The mask itself was a clearish gloopy consistency...which obviously smelt like bananas. In fact it was like rubbing really, really smooth mashed banana over my face.
I added a generous layer evenly all over my face and left it to dry, while I got on with a few household chores.
Once the time was up I washed it it off with warm water and patted my face dry. Now I'll be honest my skin didn't feel different, sometimes with masks I feel like my skin has had an overhaul with it feeling softer and smoother, this didn't do that. BUT I have to say I could seriously see a difference, my skin was was bright and had a lovely healthy glow about it.
So if you're having a good skin day and fancy just giving yourself a bit of a radiance boost, this is definitely a cheap treatment to try out.

My Skincare Routine : Video
I'm back on YouTube! I'm so sorry that there always seems to be such a huge gap between each of my videos... I promise I will get my butt in gear and sort my channel out as much as I can!
Anyway, today I'm talking all about my skincare routine - all those bits and bobs I use on my big round face day and night!

Anatomicals : Farewell The Scarlet Pimplehell Mud Mask
Anatomicals Farewell The Scarlet Pimplehell Deep Cleansing Mud Mask*
Treating myself to a little pamper is something I like to try and do weekly. Face mask, hair mask, tan, nails, I love being able to spruce myself up a bit within the comfort of my own home. I find it's ten times more comfortable and of course alot cheaper than going elsewhere to get things done.
Face mask sachets are overflowing in one of my bathroom drawers, I kid you not I think I have an addiction!
You have probably seen me talk about the Montagne Jeunesse range many times before, they are a total bargain and work wonders for my skin so trying out new ones is one of my favourite beauty treats!
Anatomicals are another bargain beauty brand. I've used a few of their products in the past and always notice their cute and fun names whilst browse through the beauty section on ASOS.
So when I was sent this mud mask from them I was excited to try it out.
Recently have had a bit of a breakout, which isn't like me at all. I eventually put it down to the new serum I had been trying out and decided to stop using it. So really this deep cleansing mask could not have come at a better time.
The directions are easy - 1. dampen face with warm water and blot dry (this helps to open up your pores) 2. Apply sachet contents evenly to the skin avoiding the eyes, 3. Allow 10-15 minutes to dry, 4. Gentle soften and wipe off with a damp cloth.
Easy peasy!
The consistency was thinner than I thought, it felt like a creamy lotion and was super easy to apply. I didn't use the whole sachet on my face so this could probably be good for two uses or to share with someone else!
The scent wasn't my favourite - it reminded me of a smell of something my Mum used to use.... don't ask me what as I have no idea....but it wasn't unbearable.
There was a slight tingle in places on my face whilst the mask did it's magic but I just put that down to it's deep cleansing.
After using my skin felt super soft and thoroughly cleansed.... I didn't ever want to put make-up on again haha, I wish m y skin could feel like that every morning!
You can check out the awesome Anatomicals range on ASOS - here - where you can actually get this mask in a pack of 3 for just £3 or you can buy it individually on Amazon - here - for £2.24.

Montagne Jeunesse Hot Vanilla Fudge Face Mask
Yes, I picked up this up for just 50p in Primark last week and finally got to use it a couple of days ago!
It was Thursday night and I decided to have a little pamper before my night dedicated to my love - Eastenders! (Wooohooo for the 30th birthday and live week - can you believe it was Bobby!?)
Anyway before I settled down I thought it would be nice to give my hair and skin a little pamper so I whipped this out, took of my make-up and applied it thickly over my face!
I love self-heating masks, the hot chocolate and sauna masks from this brand are some of my ultimate favourites, so I was really excited to try another one from the range!
If you like the scent of fudge... you need this in your life - it smells SO yummy! I plastered a thick layer over my boat race and relaxed for around 15minutes! I then hopped in the shower and washed it off!
I'm not going to lie... I was a bit sad it was a beige colour - I really like having a completely random coloured face that makes you look kind of crazy haha!
My skin felt soft and smooth and you could definitely see a difference in my complexion. My skin looked brighter with a slight glow! Not bad for 50p!
This particular one is actually exclusive to Primark - which sucks for me as I don't live anywhere near a Primark!

5 Things To Do When You're Bored
Wash Those Brushes
I for one, am so guilty of not doing this enough! I love having fresh, clean brushes - they work so much better and feel so much nicer! So next time I have a spare quarter of an hour I'm going to get down and dirty with my mucky brushes! I normally just use a gentle shampoo on them and then leave them to air dry for the night!
Give Yourself a Facial
Why sit on the sofa procrastinating when you can give yourself a fab little DIY spa treatment! My favourite things to use are the Montagne Jeunesse face mask sachets which average at only about £1 each! There are so many to choose from so there is literally one (or ten) for every skin type! Give yourself a pamper - you deserve it!
Download a New App
Most of the time when I'm bored I am glued to my phone - sad I know. If you are the same (don't lie and say you're not!) why not try downloading a new app to have a play around with and kill some time! Whether it's a game, an editing app or even 'Clue' the period tracker - cure boredom with a bit of modern technology! (I have a major geeky side and love playing Broken Sword.... don't tell anyone!)
Practice a New Hairstyle
Never been able to do a french plait or a fishtail braid? Get youtube up, put a mirror in front of you, watch a tutorial and get practicing! Practice makes perfect you know - you'll be the queen of the up-dos and grips before you know it!
Marathon Watch Netflix
There is no shame in sitting on your butt for hours watching the visual heaven that is Netlfix.
Super bored and have an afternoon to kill? Start a new series - it will be the best thing you do all week I bet!
My top 10 suggestions : Pretty Little Liars, Ru Paul's Drag Race, Gossip Girl, 90210, Buffy, The Vampire Diaries, American Horror Story, Breaking Bad, Orange Is The New Black & Misfits!
