Partylite's Spring Selection

Oooo I'm a sucker for a candle... well, really I'm a sucker for anything that smells good - espically for the home.
I can't stand the thought of my home smelling and love the way candles fill the whole place with yummy scents and the feeling of calm.

Partylite were first introduced to me last year and although I thought they were something new on the block my Mum recently informed me that she used to have Partylite candles back in the day - I was totally unaware that they had been going for so long!
The lovely team have scent me over (haha get it? scent... wow, I'm not funny am I?) a fabulous ray of new springtime products to try out at home and I have been loving them.

I think people believe nowadays direct selling is a thing of the past but with brands like Partylite, MyShowcase and Tropic only getting bigger, I really don't think that is the case!
Now lets have a look at these smelly products eh?
Butterfly Porcelain Tealight Holders & Wild Lemongrass Tealight*
How pretty are these?
If you're looking to switch your homewares and accessories over to the Spring/Summer side these little bits are a great place to start. With a gorgeous butterfly designs they make perfect finishing touches to any room - or a great present!
With them I have been using the Wild Lemongrass tealights which I was sent alongside them. These smell so fresh and zesty, I'm obsessed - I've even been popping them in my airing cupboard just to keep it smelling clean and fresh.
Glolite Candle & Smartscents Sticks with Flower Holder*
That big old candle in the backdrop is one of Partylite's Glolite candles - the world's brightest candle. Now.... I normally burn candles through the day, it's not often that I have them going whilst all the lights are off in the evening so I am yet to see this in action - although now I'm writing this I'm thinking maybe I'll check it out tonight!
The scent with this on is Berry Blossom, and this is actually the second candle I've had with this scent - luckily I LOVE it! I have had this lit in my bedroom and within about 10 minutes you can smell it around my whole flat which is exactly what I want from a candle! Top marks there! It has 2 wicks but it is a large cadle so I think it will last me a long, long while!

Smartscents are the first scent stick I have used. You may wonder why I've only got one popped into the cute little flower holder.... the reason being - they are so strong (I have the Peony scented ones)! The perfect way to keep a lovely smelling home without that risky fire! I've even popped one of these into my wardrobe. (I hate that horrible stale smell wardrobes can get, I do anything I can to avoid it!)

So there is my quick round-up of some of the Spring offerings from Partylite this year - there's so much more on the website too - check it all out here.

The NEW Travalo Milano

Travalo are a brand I've spoken about countless times here on A Yellow Brick Blog. I have been using their original spray bottle for probably 4 years now and I think they are one of the greatest beauty products out there - I'm constantly recommending them to people!

If you aren't quite sure what a Travalo is then I will go ahead and explain for you now...
Travalo is an easy peasy perfume vaporisier that fits into your handbag so you can freshen up on the go wherever you might be.
They are the perfect way to have your favourite perfumes with you 24/7 without carrying round your awkward glass bottles!
You fill the travalo in seconds directly from your standard perfume bottle - as you can see to the right! All you have to do is pump to fill, it's literally that easy.
These are a must for me for holidays and weekends away, it saves on so much room and the panic of a possible breakage!
Travalo Milano - Pink*

So when I heard that Travalo had a new luxury collection being released I was really excited and when I was asked if I would like to try one out I was even more thrilled!
I have two of the regular bottles already and use them constantly but to have something which looks a little more sophisticated and luxurious is even better.

There are eight colours to choose from, so there is literally one for everyone (and they aren't just for girls!) : Sky blue, black, white, red, baby pink, pink, navy & orange - as you can see I have the pink version.

The new pioneering spray head now produces a finer mist which helps disperse your perfume over a wider area - great idea right?
Not only this but the inner bottle can now be removed and is interchangeable with the travalo classic and other future models.
This is SUCH a good idea in my opinion, I do hate it when I want another perfume with me but my current Travalo isn't empty yet so I have to stick with the one I already have filled.

The Milano is a 5ml bottle which contains 65 sprays - which technically could keep you going for a 2 week holiday if you used it sensibly -  that is a long time for one little handbag sized bottle! (Which can I just say will fit in the smallest of clutch bags!)

All in all I LOVE Travalo's new design, it feels and looks alot more up market and all the parts they have ungraded are just fantastic.

The Milano collection is available from September 2015 at www.travalo.com and are priced at £35 each.
I was a little surprised at the price jump at first but for something that will last years and years that you can use everyday I feel it is justified, especially for the high quality.

Have you tried a Travalo before? I couldn't go on a night out or a holiday without one!

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge Perfume

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge*

It's not everyday I receive a surprise parcel in the post but I was lucky enough to return home from work last week to an exciting box on my doorstep with my name on it.

The lovely people at The Perfume Shop had wrapped up the yummy new scent from  Estee Lauder - Modern Muse Le Rouge for me and I couldn't have been more pleased.

Now.... I'm a big Kardashian/Jenner fan and knowing Kendall Jenner is the face of this new perfume did make me like it a little more.... don't judge me - I want to smell like a supermodel too haha!

I've never owned an Estee Lauder perfume so I was so pleased to finally have one to add to my fragrance collection. The bottle is a gorgeous simple design with the cute bow lid which I LOVE, look how pretty it is!

The scent itself is very sophisticated. I really wanted to share this on here as I really really do love it but sharing a perfume via a blog post is sometimes a little difficult (for me) so I've grabbed a little snippet from the website to give you all a good idea of what I'm chatting about...

"A sexy, provocative contrast of two distinctively different accords-rich roses awakened by ripe fruit, with a seductive velvet creme accord-provide an intriguing dual impression. It's a true innovation in fragrance design, as complex and fascinating as the woman who inspires it."

With strong notes of raspberry, rose and saffron this fruity and floral fragrance has gone straight to the top of my most worn! (Although not for work.... that's a waste!)

I wore this recently on a night out and it lasted for hours and hours, it has the glam factor about it which means it is fab for both daytime and evening wearing!
It's also not something that I feel is 'too young or too old' - so ti seems like a great scent for anyone of any age!

With it's slight spice this is going to be perfect for the Autumn season too which makes me really happy - hello new signature scent!

The Modern Muse Le Rouge eau de parfum starts at £45 - check it out here.

Britney Spears Limited Edition Rocker Femme Fantasy Eau De Parfum

Britney Spears Rocker Femme Fantasy 50ml*

Hands up if you've ever owned a Britney Spears fragrance........ I thought as much!

Ever since I received my first bottle of Curious for Christmas as a young teen I have had my fair share of bottles sitting on my dresser.

Britney has had a countless perfumes over the years and today I'm going to be talking about the newest of the bunch Rocker Femme Fantasy.

Another twist on a popular favourite, this is the new edgy cousin of Fantasy (one of her ultimate best sellers!).
As you can see the bottle design is pretty much the same as the original but with a black ombre faded bottom and black detailing - without a doubt this is the rocker version!

I used to wear the original Fantasy alot when I was about 19/20, but this wasn't the best time in my life so the smell of it now kind of puts me on edge as stupid as that sounds (Anxiety was a big factor in my life back then and just a sniff of the perfume I used to wear sends me straight back to that horrible time :(!)
This initially had me a bit concerned as I was worried it would be really familiar and I would never want to wear it. Fortunately it isn't overly similar to the original Fantasy scent, which had me let out a huge sigh of relief when I received it!

Rocker Femme Fantasy is said to capture the edgy attitude and energy of Brit's rock'n'roll persona, it is both fruity and oriental with hints of coconut cream and blackberry liquor.
"The heart of the perfume consists of gardenia, jasmine and flowers of violet with a lasting finish that is provided by base notes consisting of Amber, musk, cashmere and vanilla."

(Describing perfumes via typing on the internet isn't the easiest of things so there's a quick description for you.)

Yes you can still smell that familiar undertone of Fantasy but this version is alot lighter and sweeter, which is perfect for the upcoming months.
Fantasy is quite a heavy, thick scent so it was always a bit much in the warmer months, so this is a great alternative for summer!

Another winner by Miss. Spears... she can do no wrong in my eyes!
This is a limited edition fragrance so make sure you check it out while you can.

FUN BRITNEY FRAGRANCE FACTS
  • As of 2009 Britney had sold 30 million bottles worldwide. (So god knows how many it is now 6 years later!)
  • As of 2012 her fragrances brand had grossed over $1.5 BILLION!
  • As of 2013, a bottle of Britney Spears fragrance is said to be sold every 15 seconds worldwide.

Now that is some impressive stuff from the pop princess, she has hands down won the celebrity fragrance race and I think it would be hard for someone to ever come close to the success her collection has had.

Check out Rocker Femme Fantasy at The Fragrance Shop (www.thefragranceshop.co.uk)  now!

The Perfect Summer Scent For £4

The Sugar Crush range from Soap & Glory has been my favourite for a long time now. The fresh, sweet, zesty lime scent reminds me of summer, sunshine and everything bright and colourful.
I've tried the whole range over the last couple of years and I have to be honest the other S&G collections have kind of taken a backseat for me (minus the Scrub Of Your Life.... as that's great on my upper arms!) so when I spotted a new addition to Sugar Crush I grabbed it immediately.

Yes, Sugar Crush now have a body spray! A fab and handy 100ml bottle spritz, perfect to carry with you 24/7.

If you are one for layering scents then this is a great addition to the body wash, scrub and butter to keep you smelling sweet, sugary and limey for even longer!
Not only have I been keeping this in my handbag for when I feel like I need a bit of a refresh throughout the day but I've also been using it round the home.
I know I've mentioned that I do this before on here but I'll tell you again.....I love to spray lovely scents into my carpet. Yup before I hoover, I spritz around a yummy scent around the floor. It is amazing for keeping my home smelling awesome and fresh aswell - try it, I dare ya!

So both me and my home are smelling sweet and summery, perfect for these sunny days and only £4 from Boots :)

National Perfume Day : The Power Of Fragrance

It's National Perfume Day!!!
Yes guys, today marks the first ever national day dedicated to celebrating our love for scents!
I had no idea this even existed until the lovely people at The Perfume Shop informed me earlier this week, which got me thinking....

Perfume is something which we all (most probably) use on a daily basis. We all have our everyday scents, our signature scent, our "going out" scents, the favourites that we save for those special occassions and of course the bottles that bring back the best memories with just one spritz.
That's what I'm going to be talking about today.

It's crazy how just the smell of something can flood our brain with memories and images of a previous time, place or feeling.
There are so many perfumes out there that remind me of a particular time or experience in my life and just a whiff of them has me reminiscing about the good (or bad) times.
Calvin Klein Escape makes me think of travelling with my best friend, Hugo Boss Deep Red reminds me of being a teenager, D&G Light Blue takes me back to 2007 and meeting my boyfriend and Britney Spears' Midnight Fantasy just gets me thinking of Christmas time!
It's crazy how all those memories in my mind can be accessed by just a scent.
But the perfume with the happiest memory for me is Vera Wang Princess
I bought this last year at Gatwick airport whilst on my way to Florida, for my first holiday with my boyfriend. (even though we've been together 8 long years!)

Scents have always held memories so strong for me so I knew buying a new perfume for a holiday was a great way to keep those particular special memories of the trip even closer to me.
Of course it worked and now everytime I smell or wear Princess visions of Disneyworld, Universal Studios and amazing memories with my boyfriend pop up in my mind creating a huge smile on my face.
This is the power of fragrance - it really can hold the key to so many memories! I love spraying this scent as I know it will take me straight back to my Disney hotel and our adventures throughout Orlando!

Do you have any perfumes that bring back amazing memories? If you're heading on a holiday or maybe getting married or doing something life changing - why not invest in a new perfume to help remember all those memories, it really does work!

The Fragrance Shop : Discovery Club

I've always been a little apprehensive when it comes to beauty boxes/monthly subscriptions etc, I was a subscriber to a well-known beauty box years ago and ended up unsubscribing as I just didn't feel like it was worth the money I was forking out each month for it.
So when I was e-mailed about The Fragrance Shop's Discovery Club I was a little reserved about the thought of it but wanted to see what all the fuss was about as I hadn't heard of it before!
Discovery Club is a quarterly box subscription from The Fragrance Shop. In the boxes you receive a number of different perfume testers, alongside a variety of money off vouchers for them.
Yes, not only do you get sweet 1ml bottles for each scent but you also get a voucher up to £10 for every single one - this is something I was not expecting, very generous!

I love perfumes, I am a big 'smells' person and I literally feel naked without any perfume on. My collection grows and grows each year and I just love treating myself to a new scent - it's something I don't mind splashing out on now and again.
In the Spring box the fragrance's are mainly female but there is also a male fragrance included - perfect for the boyf as he's as bad as I am with fragrance, a big collector!
The 'Spring 2015' box* is the first one for this year and includes the following :

Hugo Boss - Hugo Woman Eau de Parfum (With £5 off voucher)
Givenchy - Very Irresitible  Eau de Toilette (With £5 off voucher)
Guerlain - La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche Eau de Toilette (With £5 off voucher)
Versace - Eros Pour Femme Eau de Parfum (With £10 off voucher)
Dolce & Gabbana - Floral Drops Eau de Toilette (With £5 off voucher)
Stella McCartney - Stella Eau de Toilette (With £5 off voucher)
Versace - Eros Eau de Toilette (With £10 off voucher) Mens

Now I know what you all want to know.... how much is this box thing going to set me back? Can you believe it but it is.... only £5 per box!!!
Insane right? Especially as this one, for example, not only comes with 7 gorgeous samples for you to try out but a whopping £55 worth of money off vouchers to spend either online or  in store.
For me, the fact you can spend the vouchers online is the biggest bonus as I live on the Isle Of Wight and we don't have a store here.

There is no commitment to these boxes and the price doesn't change no matter how many you want to purchase - you can go for just one box with the quarterly plan to try it out or you can order either the 6 month plan, 2 boxes, or the 12 month plan, 4 boxes.... the boxes cost £5 each whatever way you choose and you can cancel at any time. See all the info for yourself - here.

This is a fantastic idea for fragrance lovers plus a great way to save money on both new scents for yourself or for as a present!
Love buying perfumes as gifts? This is an amazing way to get them a little cheaper!
Love finding new scents released for the season? This is a great way to check some of them out that you usual may not test when in a store.

Library of Fragrance Christmas in New York Eau de Toilette 30ml Review

When I spotted this new product on the Boots website I think it took me all of 2 seconds to decide to purchase it!
The name alone had me sold - 'Christmas In New York' - and after hearing such great things about The Library Of Fragrance from other bloggers in the past I thought it must be a winner! So I splashed out with my points and paid with my handy advantage card!
Described as a 'unique scent of it's own' this brand have promised to infuse the magic of New York at Christmas into the perfect festive fragrance.
With a mix of festive spices, warm, roasting chestnuts and sweet apples this scent embodies all that we know and love about Christmas time.

I, myself, have New York in December on my list of things to do before I die. With all the lights, the buildings, the decorations and the snow - New York always looks like the perfect winter wonderland to get you in the spirit of Christmas, whatever your age! (I mean.. just think about Home Alone 2!)

When I first sprayed the cologne I was worried it smelt a little synthetic, but after letting it breathe for a bit I fell in love. For me, this isn't  scent I would use on myself, it's more of a home fragrance, like a candle.
I have been spraying this around my flat in the evenings and with my Christmas tree up with it's pretty fairy lights, it has been making my home feel super warm, festive and cosy!
If you're looking for a special scent for this time of year and candles aren't really your thing - this fragrance is great!
At the moment they are only £9.99 as an introductory offer on boots.com but if this scent doesn't sound like your cup of tea, they also have other Christmas fragrances that have released!

Jurlique #12daysofGlow : Aromatic Rose Duo

I have been so excited to get on my laptop and write this post for weeks now and now it's finally time - wahoooo!
It was back in October when Jurlique first started talking Christmas to me, I blooming love Christmas and the lovely lot at Jurlique alike so to be asked to join in with a fabulous December campaign of their's was so exciting!
I've used Jurlique products before (you may remember this post) and, of course, fell in love with them straight away! They are one of those 'how have I not tried anything from these people before' kind of brands!

Anyway back to what this is all about! This year Jurlique have created some amazing goodies and gift sets full of their best selling products and with Christmas just around the corner, it's all about giving the gift of glow!
Know someone who's a skincare addict? Want to treat a loved one? Or maybe fancy something new for yourself? Then keep on reading!

For 12 days this month a different blogger is going to be sharing with you one of Jurlique's fabulous sets .... and I, Kirstie, here at A Yellow Brick Brick am Day number 2!
So sit back, relax and check out the Aromatic Rose Duo!
The rose range was what I tried before from Jurlique and I love love loved it so I had high hopes for this lovely duo!
The set comes in a lovely gift box and as you can see from photos at the top, came beautifully wrapped! I love the little touches like from companies, especially if you are giving i to someone as a present!

In this duo you get the 125ml Rose Hand Cream and the Roll-on Rose Fragrance Oil.
First I'll talk about the hand cream!
This tube is huge! Well... it's 125ml but it feels so big compared to all the other hand creams I own, which is fab! I always carry a huge handbag so the fact it is a little bigger doesn't bother me in the slightest!
The cream itself is so thick and creamy, without being greasy at all it is seriously lovely! I use so much hand cream at this time of year, the cold weather makes my hands so dry and working with the public I tend to over-use that trusty anti-bac aswell which causes havoc with my hands too, so hand creams are life savers!
The scent is beautiful, just like my other rose products from Jurlique, the smell is soft but strong and lasts for ages!
I can imagine my Mum keeping this cream by the sink for everyday use.... she always has hand creams near the sink and I know she would LOVE this!
The other half of the duo now and the roll on fragrance which comes in a convenient 11ml bottle.
The powerful rose scent includes top notes of Rose Wardia and Rose Anatolia blooms and the smell is so long lasting on the skin!
I find the smell of rose really soothing and calming and it has really been helping me relax after a hard days work recently! As you may have seen earlier this week I talked about products that have been helping me sleep better.... this is one of them!
After having a shower I have been putting this on my pulse points and relaxing on the sofa! If you wanted to have it as an everyday fragrance it's also great  layered with the other rose products Jurlique has to offer!
Convenient, quick and easy this is a fabulous product!

Worth £50 in value this gift box saves you a whopping £15 being only £35! Click here to check it out! A gorgeous present for a loved one this Christmas (or yourself!), I must say both these products have been such a luxury treat for me.

Make sure you check out the rest of Jurlique amazing blogger #12daysofGlow - I know some amazing girlies that are just waiting for their turn to rave about their products they have been trying!
To see each day being revealed make sure you are following Jurlique on twitter - @JurliqueUK and see how many blogger and vlogger faces you recognise!

Yves Rocher L'Eau Moment de Bonheur Fragrance Review

Summer is here! *looks out window*..... okay summer is nearly here!
And with summer sunshine and heat I always struggle to find a perfume that doesn't feel thick and heavy on my skin!
Say hello to Yves Rocher, a french brand which seems to do everything, and their lovely EDT fragrance - L'Eau Moment de Bonheur.
This is a brand that I had heard of previously but never actually tried anything from! French brands seem to be all rage at the moment don't they!
Anyway, I was approached to try out this snazzy 50ml scent out and try I did!

Like I said before when the weather is hot and humid the last thing I want is to  wear a heavy, thick fragrance on my skin. I don't know weather this is just me?
This EDT is said to be a "breath of springtime" it's a lovely fresh, fruity scent with hints of rose and sweet apple.

It comes in a lovely simple bottle (which actually reminds me alot of Liz Earle's perfume bottles) and I love that the product is green - giving it a bright, unique look on my shelf without having a crazy bottle!
I've mentioned before that I love sweet scents and this is so nice as an everyday smell. I wouldn't wear this out in the evening or for a night out as, personally, I don't think it's strong enough for that.

I've been wearing this everyday too work and have been really enjoying it. It's so light and airy it would be perfect for a summers day, holiday abroad or a trip to the beach as it doesn't feel clammy or sticky on the skin!

Now this is only an eau de toilette which means the scent doesn't last as long as an eau de parfum as it is slightly weaker. This means you do have to reapply a few times a day which is it's only downfall - I'd like it to last longer.
The price of this 50ml bottle is £38, a tad more expensive than I would usually pay for just an edt but I've found this is a perfect smell for me for summertime and I love love love it.

Looking forward to trying out some more stuff from this brand - they do so much I don't know where it start, any recommendations?
