A Few Disneyworld Top Tips

As most of you know I've just been to the sunshine state and had a fabulous time at Disneyworld once again!
I last went in 2012 and loved it so much that at the beginning of this year I managed to force talk my boyfriend into going for a fortnight for our first holiday together! (Yes we've been together over 7 years and we live together but this was our first holiday!)

We had the best time ever and I loved sharing our time away with you guys via social media! Whilst I was away I was asked a few questions about certain things so I thought I'd do a little tips post for anyone wanting to know more - things to read maybe if you're a first time Disney go-er and don't really know where to start with it all!
Please bare in mind that when I've been previously it's been with either a friend or my boyfriend, so some of these tips may not be the best for large families booking!

1. Book In Advance
I know all you probably want to do is book and leave tomorrow but I really think, as frustrating as it must seem, that having lots of time to prepare is vital! I had 9 months this time round to sort everything and save and even I thought that was a squeeze! Make sure you work out enough time beforehand to save all the money you want to take with you, if you're going to stay for 2 weeks I'd say you'd need a minimum of $1000 per adult - we took a bit more than this as we wanted to be able to do everything we wanted and not have to worry, which turned out to be the best choice!
Plus when your booking with a fair bit of notice there tends to be lots of deals, offers and savings on, especially when you're booking through Disney themselves.

2. Stay At A Disneyworld Resort
I've only ever stayed on site so it's kind of all I know but I don't think I would want it any other way.
The deals you can get booking with Disney are a whole lot better and probably cheaper than you would if you were booking through another travel agent. For example for my most recent trip my boyfriend and I got : Return flights to Orlando from Gatwick flying with Virgin Atlantic, a room at Disney's Pop Century Resort (Large room with 2 double beds) for 2 weeks, a 14-day ultimate park ticket for all 6 parks plus Disney Quest and transfers for less than £2500. That's less than £1250 each - which I think it a total bargain!
When staying at a Disney resort too you get alot of extras such as money off vouchers for restaurants and stores AND you get free transport nearly 24 hours a day with dozens of constant buses going to and from your hotel to all the parks! We literally never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a mode of transport - so so handy. (especially if you haven't hired a car)
And the benefits don't stop there, when you're staying on site you will be entitled to a certain little thing called Magic Hours. Magic Hours are extra opening times for the park for resort guests.
Each day is a different park and these are the perfect times to get in and on those rides which always have ridiculous queue times (3 hours for a 2 minute ride? Ain't nobody got time for that!)/
The best time is when the parks regular hours are 9am open but magic hours are from 8am - get in and out the park before most people have even arrived!

3. Go In Off Peak Times
Each time I've been I have been super lucky when it comes to crowds and queues. I went in March just before Easter and most recently mid-end September. Both times I haven't queued more than 25 minutes for anything (at either Disney or Universal). I've heard what it's like in the summer and at Christmas and for me personally even though the weather is better in summer and the atmosphere sounds amazing in December I would rather go at a quieter time even though there is a risk of rain!
Our holiday last month was amazing, September is when kids have all gone back to school and it is alot less likely that parents are going to take them out of class when they have just started a new year, plus they get fined now!

4. Use Magic Bands & Get A Memory Maker
When staying at a Disney resort your magic band is your room key, park ticket, fast passes and you can also link your bank/credit card to it to use as payment - which is a genius idea especially for the water parks! You can leave your hotel not having to worry that you have your room key, wallet and tickets as it's all in one place - on your wrist!
As far as I know you can get these even if you aren't staying on site and I would high recommended them - so convenient.

The next thing I'm going to mention does cost a little extra but for me it was worth every penny. Memory Makers are a photopass system which means every photo you get taken inside the parks, whether it be on a ride or in front of Cinderella's castle, is put onto a digital account for you.
These accounts can be linked to your magic bands also so all the photographer needs to do is scan your band after they've taken the pictures and if you're on a ride it does it automatically.... don't ask me how - I was amazed also!
I'm the sort of person who loves getting the photos from rides as I find them hilarious, so to know I was going to get all of them made me super happy and less stressful when it came to deciding whether I wanted to pay out for it or not. Photos can be like $20 each and this beaut is only $149 if you buy it 3 days or more in advance - well worth it, I love the photos we got!
5. Take Comfortable Shoes & A Sensible Bag
Comfortable shoes are a must! The amount of walking you will do is insane - I was totally exhausted everyday! As hot as it may get I really think trainers are a must, a few hours walking constantly in flip-flops can become uncomfortable and you don't want to have to cut the day short because your feet hurt!
Don't get me wrong flip flops are also a must, especially for the water parks and chilling at the pool just make sure you take a range of different footwear!
Bag wise you need to remember that you are going to be taking and posing for photos 24/7, going on rides and walking round lots. This in mind I think across -body bags or bags with a long strap are perfect (although nothing too big!) - hands are free. they are easy to get things in and out of plus easy to get off when hopping on a ride or posing for a photo!

6. Have A Plan Of Action & Fast Pass In Advance
As much as it's fun to go with the flow and relax it is best to have some sort of plan for your days! We set alarms each morning and knew exactly where we were going, what time we wanted to get there for and what we were heading too first!
We also pre-booked our fast passes days in advance, although if you can I'd say choose them as early as possible!
Rides like Toy Story Midway Mania & The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train were completely out of fast passes by the time we went which actually lead us to never going on the mine train - sad face! You can do all of this on the My Disney Experience App!

7. Early Birds Catch The Worm
I mentioned it earlier but I would 100% recommend getting up early as tackling the parks as soon as they open! This is the quietest you'll see the parks as not everyone can be bothered to get up, have 1 million kids to get ready or are super tired from the day before!
There were some days where we had done all the big rides by 9am and the queues were still that short that we could go and do them again!
This way aswell you can be out of the parks by lunch and the time everyone has arrived for the day and head back to the pool or a water park for a relaxing afternoon before heading back out again in the evening!

8. Order The Kids Food Options Or Share
I don't know about other people but I find the amount of food given in the US far too much most of the time and this is why it's great that Disney serves kids options. I know they are made for 12's and unders or whatever but for me they are normal size servings and they save you money!
Another good way to not waste food/over eat and save money is too share a meal (lunch) - for example you can get 8 chicken nuggets with a portion fries for around $9, but this is the perfect size to share with someone, we did this alot!

9. Want To Eat Out? BOOK!

There a so many amazing restaurants in and around the parks and resorts at Disney but because they are so amazing they are, of course, constantly fully booked!
So before you go plan some meals, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner you will be so glad that you did! I would have loved to have eaten a the new Be Our Guest resruant in Fantasyland but I didn't book in time and it was impossible once we were there! We did have some lovely meals at Downtown Disney though at Planet Hollywood, T-Rex & The Rainforest Cafe!!
10. Go To Walmart
Walmart isn't far away from the Disneyworld site and there is so so much you can get to make your trip a little easier and a little cheaper! I find Walmart great for getting things like bottled water (saves paying the $2.50/$3 per bottle in the parks), breakfast bars and crisps to take will you each day to keep hunger at bay and avoid paying for lunch in the parks each day!
You can also get some great gifts in here, they sell loads of Disney merchandise and clothing at a fraction of the price of the parks, great US sweets and awesome cheap make-up and toiletries. They basically sell everything so it's a one stop shop for all your holiday needs!

So there's just a few little tips for you guys, I hope they were helpfulish?
Have you been to Disney before? Counting down the days to your flight? Let me know!!

More Disneyworld post coming soon.......

Stay White On The Isle Of Wight

Now I've mentioned festivals a good few times since starting this blog back in May 2013. Where I live they are a big deal and the highlight of most of me and my friends years really!

When you think of Festival's you may think of stinky loos, lots of mud and unwashed people left, right and centre - but this isn't always the case! In fact I love Festivals as an excuse to glam myself up with lots of hair, make-up and cute outfits - especially Bestival (My favourite.)
In many articles Bestival has said to be the 'best looking' festival and with it's amazing fancy dress themes each year people are known for putting in weeks and weeks of effort to look amazing all weekend round.
There are so many tips and tricks as to how to survive a festival and how to in insure you look Festival fabulous 24/7 and the genius people at Listerine have come up with their top 5 bits of advice to help you along the way!

Top 5 tips for feeling fabulous at Bestival & Look after your pearly whites!

Keeping It White!
With all those photos being taken, it is time to perfect that smile. Listerine Stay White keeps teeth whiter*. Used twice a day, it is proven to not only kill 97% of germs left behind after brushing (festival food anyone?) but helps keep your breath fresh for meeting all your new festival 'friends'! Listerine Stay White works as hard as you, and provides up to 24 hours of fresh breath protection** - great for those late nights!
*Reduces tartar to prevent stains **When used twice daily

 Style it up!
There's nothing worse than lifeless, limp hair and there is only so much a good dry shampoo can fix! Instead, try styling your hair into a fishtail plait, channelling your inner boho. It'll give you a relaxed but tidy look and pulling your hair off your face means you can go all out with the face jewels.

 Sparkle the night away...
When in Rome, do as the Romans do! In this case, grab a few colourful pots of glitter and shower yourself in it. Accessorising with glitter will leave you looking and feeling in the festival spirit. Handy tip? Use a small amount of glitter to cover any little skin breakouts. Genius, right?
 Go bold or go home!
For one weekend, leave behind your day-to-day make-up and embrace bold colours and textures. Make sure to pack a bold lippy in a colour you wouldn't usually dare to wear (I know you've seen the purple lip trend!). And for the eyes? Break out the metallic blues and shimmery silvers. For a real statement, apply one thick colour under the lower lash line and smudge it a little for the ultimate smoky eye.
 Mirror, mirror on the wall
A good mirror is an essential to pop in your bag as you never know the state of the facilities at the festival! Completing your festival-chic hair and beauty regime without a mirror is just not an option so look for a decent sized mirror that includes a little stand so you can prop it up in your tent.

To help me survive this years Bestival Listerine have been nice enough to send me an awesome must-have festival kit.
Full of helpful and handy items plus some snazzy little extras this kit is set to make sure my weekend is top notch and I'm feeling funky fresh from Thursday afternoon to Monday morning!

First up and most importantly Listerine's Stay White mouthwash. I swear by mouthwash at a Festival, there isn't always a clean source of water near you when you need it so mouthwash is the perfect way to freshen up your breathe and keep your mouth clean with needing a toothbrush!
The Stay White mouthwash reduces more plaque than just brushing and helps to keep teeth whiter which is fab if your drinking lots of coloured drinks (aka coke/coffee) over the weekend!
Saying this though of course you'll have time to brush your teeth (just not as often!) so they've also sent me the ultra white reach brush! I always buy a new toothbrush to take with me when camping at a Festival as 9 times out of 10 they don't make it home with me! This is great for a weekend of eating crap foods and drinking a tad more than usual!

A mirror is essential for the weekend - sat in a tent isn't the greatest place to try and get yourself ready for the day/night and if you've decided to go a bit OTT to get in the festival mood you are going to be able to do that in the reflection of your can of cider are you?
I love this Star Gazer nail polish, white nails are bang on trend at the moment and this has a bit glitter which is always a YES at the Festi!
Sensible product now - Compeed blister plasters! Festivals involve alot of walking and Robin Hill where the Bestival is based is full of hills and I mean seriously steep hills so these will definitley come in handy!

Bumbag's again perfect, easy peasy to keep everything handy and in a reachable place (perfect for when you need the loo too!) and sunglasses are a must, even if it's not sunny you may want to hide your face at some points (6am loo run!)
Lastly in my cute little must-have box is a disposable camera! The best way old school to capture memories - I love that the photos are a surprise when you get them developed, I can't wait to take this with me!

So that's me sorted and ready and raring to go! I cannot wait for this weekend, keep your eyes peeled on my twitter and instagram for Bestival updates from 4th-7th Sept!

12 Of My Festival Essentials

Living on the Isle Of Wight (Yup, that's where I've been hiding!) I like to think of myself a fairly experienced festival-goer!
Having the Isle Of Wight Festival & Bestival on my doorstep every year means I've been  too about 13 Festivals since I was 15  and with those had the most amazing times with amazing people and of course seen the most amazing bands/artists!

Over the last 9 years I'd like to think that I've learnt alot about Festival-going and know exactly what I need to pack along with my tent and alcohol, I'm a huge girly girl and definitely need to feel clean and fabulous still.... even if I'm surrounded by sweaty drunk fools, stinky porta-loos and muddy puddles!

So I've put together a few small essentials that will help get you festival ready in no time, some may be obvious & some you may have never even thought of!
Obviously I'm very lucky and even if  camp I can always head home for a lovely warm shower and a change of clothes.... one day I WILL do a Festival properly though!

Travalo : Now if you haven't heard of these yet you have been seriously missing out! The perfect (and only) way to take your favourite perfume along with you while taking up no space in your bags!
Just pop the top off your choosen perfume to reveal the white stick and pump this bottle on top - your perfume is transferred into the mini bottle, perfect for travelling, perfect for Festivals! I have 2 and they are a god-send!

Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel & Holder : This has got to be number 1 on the 'Things to take to a festival list'.  You will need to use anti-bac... alot - those portaloos are GROSS, believe me I have seen some sights in my time! These hand gels have amazing clip on holders too so just clip it onto your bag/shorts/anything and you wont have to route around your bag with dirty hands to find it!

Mini Mouthwash : Brushing your teeth... with a toothbrush, toothpaste, water ... is a bit of a mission if your sat at your tent in the middle of the day, in the middle of a field! Mouthwash's are great to take with you and leave in your tent for when you want to freshen up! Just spit into sn old cup and pop it in the bin when you're done! Fresh breath and no hassle! Chewing Gum will just annoy you when you're drinking or eating all afternoon/evening!

Bumbag : A bag with no straps, nothing to carry, nothing to leave behind and forget, all your belongings with you zipped in at all times .... bumbags are the perfect Festival bag to keep your prized possessions safe and sound! Also great for when you need the loo!

Wellies : I don't care what anyone say - even it is was boiling hot... I'd always wear wellies... do you know how disgusting some of those loo's are? You o NOT want to be walking around those areas with sandals or trainers... think of the germs! Eww!
Also.... an amazing work out - wellies are heavy, like wearing ankle weights, and the amount of walking you do at festival is bound to help you tone those pins up!
Pocket Tissues : Because no-one likes being stuck in a loo without any loo roll... and that will happen alot!
Top Tip:  Hide them before you go into the toilet or you will have everyone and their grandma asking for one... and it's not that you are selfish but you don't want to be left empty handed later on in the day because you've been Mrs. Generous in the loo queue!

iPhone Charging Case :  Well this is a genius idea! Yes there are places that will charge your phone for you for a few hours BUT if you're in the middle of a crowd, waiting for a band or popping to the bar/loo on your own the worst thing is your phone battery deciding to die! So... whack this case on, easy peasy! Not only will it protect your phone but you can choose when to give your phone a bit of extra charge - perfect!

Sunglasses : Obviously you need sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun, but they are also amazing to hide half of your face!
Lack of sleep, too much to drink, couldn't be bothered to put make-up on, or you did put make-up on but that 7 hours ago and you aren't looking too fresh - sunglasses are the answer! There are so many to choose you so you can look like a fashionista at the same time!

Hair Scrunchies : Weather it is too hot and you are sweating a bucket in the crowd or it's chucking it down with rain and the windswept looking really isn't your thing there will be a point where your hair will need to go up. Like on top of your head up.
So what better than a scrunchie - hair's up and you look cool at the same time, perfect! Just wear round your wrist in the day so it's always at the ready!

A Good Lip Product : Like I said before you will probably be wearing sunglasses  which means the only key make-up feature that people will see will be those lovely lips!
Lipstick is obviously amazing and my personal fav but isn't always great if it's hot, as it melts and if you are drinking alot it can smudge!
So you could always take good tinted lipbalm or lipgloss along too!
Tip : If it is hot and sunny, do NOT use vaseline - that will burn your lips!

Coin Purse : NEVER take all your cards to a Festival - just have one bank card (if you can) for emergencies, your ID (If you're over 18) and cash.
You only need a little coin purse for these things - perfect for your small bag/bumbag, making more room for all your other essentials/valuables that you want to carry around with you!

Compact Mirror : It's not like you can go and check yourself out in those public loos because... just no - they have no mirrors and if they do you don't want to hang around in them to reapply your lippy! A little mirror in your bag is vital for us girly-girls!

Dieting & Me : #3 My Top Tips

Post number 3 is here! To catch up here is where we've got to so far...
This time I'm going to share with you girls (and possible boys) some of my top tips for shifting those few unwanted pounds and feeling better about yourself!
Like I've said before I am in no shape or form a trained dietitian or fitness expert but these are things that I have learnt over the years and things that have worked for me!

This is fairly text heavy, so make yourself comfortable and get your reading brain in gear.
Now... let's turn that self-esteem around and make ourselves look and feel fabulous!
1. H20 - Yes, any dieting tips you will ever read will probably more often than not have this as the number 1 top tip!
Water has so many benefits I could be here all day jotting them all down! If you aren't a water drinker then it is time to change your ways! It is such an easy step to take and water is free so there is no excuse for this one! (Don't like water? Add a slice of lemon or lime!)
It helps boost your metabolism, keeps your brain working and helps you remain focused and keeps you feeling full. So if you think you're hungry then have a glass of water (colder is better as it  makes your body work harder to regulate its temperature again) alot of the time the hunger you feel is actually dehydration!

2. Get into a routine - Being in a routine has always helped me immensely. Getting up and having a healthy breakfast like high fibre cereal or porridge and/or fruit to kick start your morning everyday is a fantastic way to kick start your metabolism and will have you motivated and energetic for the day ahead! Having lunch and dinner at the same sort of time each day helps alot too! Just a few days into setting yourself into 3 meals and your body will get used to the routine and you won't feel hungry as much and end up unnecessarily snacking (with biscuits in front of Eastenders) - score!

3. Have a Buddy - Having some to talk to in the same situation and on a similar journey is always a bonus! Whether it's a friend, a family member or maybe even just someone on Twitter or Instagram having someone you know is in the same position as yourself is always motivating!
Talk about your cravings, your progress and your achievements - it will help keep you going... and if you're anything like me and competitive then it will help spur you on even more!

4. Don't Go Cold Turkey Or Under Eat  - A mistake a lot of people make when deciding to go on a diet is just going full-on diet crazy and cutting our more or less everything they think is bad!
This is definitely something I would say don't do! Just slowly start to cut out a few things a week - maybe start with swapping fizzy drinks for water, having 1 biscuit instead of 4 or not eating after 8pm.
Each little difference, as small as it is, will have an effect! If you suddenly just start living off soups, salads and fruit only you will only crave the foods you want more and will have a high chance of snapping and quickly reverting back to your own ways (and stuffing you face with those things you've missed!) .
As well as this under eating will not help you lose weight. Eating 1000 calories a day, yes will help you loose weight at first, but as soon as you go back to eating normally your body will just cling to all that extra food and those pounds will pile back on - it is a proven fact!

5. Keep a Diary/Get The Apps - Keeping a food diary is a great way to keep track of your progress and it is great to see where your downfalls are aswell. Apps like My Fitness Pal are amazing for this. You can write in everything you eat and what physical activity you do each day and it calculates for you everything from your calorie intake to what % of fat you had that day!
The one thing with this though is you need to be HONEST. If you "forget" to add in or write down that sneaky snickers bar you had at 7pm it doesn't mean you didn't eat it - the only person you are lying to is yourself!

6. Avoid Those White Devils - I made a conscious effort a long while ago to swap all those white things for wholegrain!
Breads, pastas, rice, you name it - I always have brown/wholemeal. With these I feel so much less bloated than when I ate white and they are so much better for you! A great source of fibre and it makes eating carbs alot less naughty! Just swapping your bread over will make you feel a million times better believe me!

7. Treat yourself - Cheat day is something I am all for! There are always going to be times when you seriously fancy that chocolate bar or some cheeky sweets! I think one day a week is fine to relax and eat what you want! Without these days it would definitely be harder to keep up the dieting and when you've been good a treat really does feel like a treat, not an everyday snack!

8. Make Your Goals Realistic & Attainable - Now I did touch on this back in my 'Motivation' post! We all need goals that are attainable. Wishing to loose half a stone in a week is pointless. It is isn't going to happen. Nor is staring at photos of Michelle Keegan - you aren't her so don't strive to be like her. Look at photos of yourself, photos you have from when you've felt better about yourself - you know you can look like that so go for it! Making small goals is the key - loosing 1 lb a week for a month or cutting out crisps for 2 weeks, these are goals that can be done, go for it and you'll be ticking off your accomplishments before you know it!

9. Green Tea - "ewww" will be alot of yours reactions to this one but I have to say - I swear by this stuff!
I thought I'd give it a go about 3 years ago and I've never looked back! I could drink this all day everyday, I love it and can drink unto 10 cups a day! The fact it comes with so many benefits is a bonus! It boots metabolism, is a great source of anti-oxidants, lowers stress levels, seriously hydrating and a perfect 0 calories per cup! The list goes on! And if you aren't a fan... try green tea with lemon, or ginger! Just don't add sugar... that defeats the object!

10. Swap Your Snacks - Snacking is one of those things that no-one can seem to agree on. One diet tells you to snack on small portions all through the day and others tell you to just stick those 3 main meals! Who knows?!
I'd say if you're hungry, you've had a drink and you're still hungry - the eat! Just make sure what your snacking on is helping not hindering your hardwork!
Instead of picking up that packet of crisps or an easy chocolate bar option - swap it! Fruits, salad, veggies, nuts, some yogurts - these things are great ideas for simple snacks!
I also Love Ryvita and Special K products! Ryvita bites/thins are great tasting and have hardly any calories - perfect for an inbetween meals munch!

11. Never Shop Hungry & Avoid Those Unnecessary Extras  - Something which you may not have noticed is when you go food shopping. If you go shopping before a meal when you're a bit peakish you are 100x more likley to over spend and come out with things you had no intention of buying! The best thing to do is go after a meal or when you are just not hungry and write a list! Only write down what you need - try and get in and out as quick as your can, avoid those tempting offers and save both money and unwanted calories!
Same as what I said in my last post aswell, plan your meals, take your lunch to work - this will save you money and you will be less likley

12. Keep Moving - Just 20-30 mintues a day, whatever it is it is better than sitting on your butt! Walking, running, zumba, the gym - get out there and work it girl!

13. Be Patient - Patience is key. Don't get disheartened if after a week you feel the same and have only shifted half a pound - everything comes in time! The longer you keep at the the easier it will get.
Try and only weigh yourself once a week - same day, same time, same clothes - this will give you an accurate reading of your progress!
You will get there in the end - the more progress you see the more motivated you will feel! Take before photos as you may not feel a change over time but looking at photos you will see how far you've come! (I've added a few of mine for you... cringe at 2011 me!)

ALWAYS REMEMBER...

THE BEST PROJECT YOU WILL EVER WORK ON IS YOURSELF.
