Make-Up Revolution Mermaids Forever Eyeshadow Palette Review

Over the last year I have tried my fair few palettes from Make-Up Revolution and have always been impressed and satisfied with the quality, especially for their small (and down right crazy) prices!

So when this new palette popped through my letterbox I was looking forward to seeing what the gang at MUR had come up with now.
With the name "Mermaids Forever" and the shiny blue boxing I expecting some blue, shimmery shades but what I actually got was that and so, so much more!
Make-Up Revolution Mermaids Forever Eyeshadow Palette*

With 32 shades this palette has ALL your colour needs in one handy place. From light nudes to bright fierce emerald greens - this really has something for everyone which is why I've decided it's got to be my favourite palette from MUR so far. It even has a mirror on the inside, another brilliant extra for the price you pay!

I'll admit a few of the lighter shades aren't as pigmented as I would like but the brighter shimmer shades totally make up for this - the quality is insane.
The only other thing I would say is that I would love this even more if the palette itself was a gorgeous blue 'sea themed' colour.
The box it comes in is a lovely metallic blue but the compact itself is the same as all their other palettes, plain black.
This makes it hard to stand out when sat with the rest of them but at the same time it is understandable as the price you are paying isn't alot so I'm sure they'd rather save money on packaging and put more money into the actually products.

I've swatched all the colours below - I've done 2 vertical lines at the time.
Nudes & Coppers - Bottom to Top :
Forever | Seashell | Enchant | Future
Bay | Creature | Starfish | Ariel

(you see what I mean about the lighter nudes?)
Pinks & Purples - Bottom To Top :
Myth | Magic | Pretty | Pink Sea
Song | Urchin | Princess | Ocean

I am obsessed with pretty and pink sea, the pigmentation is amazing, this is just after one sweep of colour. These are great colours for if you are trying to venture of of the standard neutral shades but don't want anything too drastic.
Blues & Greens - Bottom to Top :
Mermaids | Sea | Waves | Splash
Fishtail | Land | Turtle | Undersea
Earth & Smokey - Bottom to Top :
Treasure | Kingdom | Mineral | Seabed
Imagine | Harmony | Prince | Whale

These are the sort of colours I'm so used to using and playing around with, I'm looking forward to trying out some of the brighter colours alongside them though - I need to get out of my neutral comfort zone, espically this season.

How adorable are all the names too? I'm so glad that MUR added this feature - there's nothing worst than a beautiful shade with no name, the names almost make them prettier you know?

At only £8 Mermaids Forever is pretty much a no-brainer - 32 amazing shades to keep you going all summer long... you can find it HERE on the official website.

6 Shades For Summer

With it being May already and those warmer months being just around the corner, I thought it was about time that I started talking SUMMER over here on A Yellow Brick Blog! (waits for round of applause and woop woop's all round)

Not long now and we'll be sipping cocktails in the sun, heading to Festivals, wearing dresses without god damn tights and whipping out those bright and bold lip shades!

When it comes to summer and sunshine I love rocking bright, fun shades and it's one of my favourite times to try out new products and splurge my dollar!
So here are 6 of the shades that I will be rocking for sure over the next few months!
Left to right :

Bourjois Aqua Laque - 06 Feeling Reddy
This is one of the newest products from Bourjois' range. After the awesome success of their Rouge Velvet collection they have bought out the gorgeous Aqua range. Shiny, glosses liquid lipstick with an amazing staying power! I just had to pick up this bright red shade for summer.
 L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick - 401 Fuschia Drama
One of my ultimate favourites here. I bought this as soon as it was released and it has been in my most worn pile of products ever since then. I love fuschia shades and this liquid lipstick is gorgeous. I wear it at work alot and it stays on so, so well.
 L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick - 201 Rose Symphony
You probably already saw me talking about it earlier this week, with an awesome offer available I couldn't not purchase this. The most subtle of the shades I've picked, this is perfect for everyday wear and great to wear with all those pretty florals we like to rock.
Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick - 110
A classic now. Rimmel's Kate Moss collection is my favourite drug store lipstick collection, hands down. This is a gorgeous matte coral - a bright shade to suit a number of different skin tones and great for a smaller budget.
MAC Lipstick - Candy Yum Yum
Now.... this is a BRIGHT one! Another matte product and another personal favourite of mine. I LOVE wearing this to festivals!
MAC Lipstick - Impassioned
Last but not least we have Impassioned, one of my favourite MAC products I own. This shade is like nothing else I own (and I'm not going to lie.. I own alot) which definitely helps it stand out in my collection. It's one of those shades that you can recognise on someone in a second, I don't think I'll ever get bored of pinks you know.
Feeling Reddy | Fuchsia Drama | Rose Symphony | 110 | Candy Yum Yum | Impassioned

What are your favourite summer shades? I'd love to know your MAC top picks... I fancy treating myself for this upcoming season!

Rimmel Kate Moss Spring Lipstick Releases 2015 : 35,36,37

New highstreet make-up releases always get me excited and purse twitchy but what I love more than anything is new additions to an already adored collection!

I have been using Rimmel's Lasting Finish Kate Moss lipsticks for years and years now and own definitely more than a handful. (Number 20 was my everyday lipstick for the longest time and I still LOVE that shade!)
So seeing new shades being added to the range ready for spring made me jump for joy, my purse and then my camera!
Time to share these new beauties with you.......
The formula for these is my favourite kind of formula for lipsticks, nice and creamy with great pigmentation, you really don't need alot of this to build up the colour - one sweep and you're done!

I have to say these lipsticks probably coms a close second to my MAC babies, but at only a 1/3 of the price! (and there's always offers to make them even cheaper... e.g. 3 for 2!) Hands down the best drugstore lipsticks out there.

There were only these 3 new ones in my local Boots store but I know there are another 2 lurking out there, shades 34 and 38 have also been released - so keep your eyes peeled.
Left to right : 35 | 36 | 37

35
A pretty baby pink - perfect for everyday wear to work for me, I think I'm going to pair it with Barry M's bubblegum lipgloss.

36
This is like the lighter sister shade of #20 from the range. A gorgeous fuchsia pink (which is my favourite lip colour to rock), I can see me getting alot of wear out of this!

37
This has given me hope that summer is on the way soon....fingers crossed!
This shade is very, very similar to the matte KM lipstick in shade 110 - so if you love that colour but aren't keen on a matte finish then this is 100% the lipstick for you!

I wish this lipsticks had god damn names I hate them just being numbers.
These are available at both Boots & Superdrug and are priced at £5.49 each, but like I said keep yours eyes peeled for offers, right now they are on 3 for 2 in Boots!
What do you think? Any of these look like your sort of thing?

Ralph Lauren 5150 : Sunglasses Shop

Now if you think that sunglasses are only for those summer months then you are seriously mistaken!
That winter sun can be a totally blinding when it's out (it does happen I promise, it's not always doom and gloom), so having a good pair of sunglasses is definitely a priority of mine even if it's that advent calendar time of year!
Cat eye glasses have been storming the sunglasses scene this past year or so, with celebrity's and high street stores embracing the trend they have been everywhere!

Recently the SunglassesShop asked me if I would like to try one of their pairs of sunglasses, so of course I leaped at the chance!
Like I said before, sunglasses are something I need all year round and I always like to have pair in my handbag..... just in case that cheeky little sun decides to pop it's head through the never-ending clouds!
These are the 5150 sunglasses from the fabulous Ralph Lauren in the shade - Tortoise Pink Plum and they are priced at £77.
I think sunglasses are one of the few things that I don't mind paying more than high-street prices for. Alot of sunglasses out there don't have the right amount of protection in the lenses and the fit can be a bit rubbish - so you always know when buying designer sunglasses they are going to be a higher quality!

I love the shape of these glasses, I'm a bit fussy when it comes to size as I feel like I have  huge head so need a fairly big frame to suit me and the shade of the lense is lovely too - I don't like it when they really see-through and you can see my beady eyes clearly!

Keep your eyes peeled on my instagram and twitter for more photos of these beauts - I wore them the other day and got some lovely compliments, I'm officially obsessed and praying for more sunshine this winter... I can't wait until next year to wear these more!

Make sure you check out SunglassesShop for a huge range of designer glasses at really reasonable prices - they could make the perfect Christmas present for someone.... your yourself!

Nail Shades For Autumn

Well now that the temperature has dropped a fair bit (I am a tad chilly) I have come to accept the fact that Autumn is officially here and summer/heat will be just a distant memory for, at least, the next 8 months.
So along with the weather change comes new fashion, new scents and new colours for me to indulge in. I love getting back into darker, warmer and richer colours especially when it comes to make-up!
I love dark and vampy colours and I think they look amazing both in make-up and clothing!
So in this post I thought I would share a few of my favourite nail polish shades for the Autumn months (I have sooo many so I just picked a few out of the bunch!) , heading away from the brights and neons and getting out those dark, warm colours!

1. Barry M Gelly Nail Paint - Lychee
A nude is perfect for all seasons in my opinion. I have praised this polish before on my blog and am still just as in love with it. To me it is the perfect nude colour and it is really opaque aswell unlike alot of other nudes you can get on the high-street which are jut a pale water that need 1000 coats to get any form of colour on your nails!
2. Barry M Nail Paint - Mushroom
A classic Barry M polish that I'm sure you have all owned at some point! Probably one of the first Barry M polishes I bought and it is still going strong! I love all the earthy colours in Autumn!
3. Barry M Instant Nail Effects, Foil - Gold.
A fabulous metallic colour, amazing consistancy and great overall effect! I love using on just one of my nails (normally my ring finger) alonside another colour or doing nail art  - it looks great!
4. Barry M Nail Paint - Raspberry
Moving on from bay pinks and bright pinks for Autumn I love darker pinks like this raspberr colour! Another Barry M polish that I have had for years but this one is still one of my favourites - always looks amazing with a matching lip aswell!
5. Maybelline Colour Show by Colorama - 104 Noite De Gal
A brand new polish to my collection this week! I have been looking at these polishes for ages and had heard they were really good quality for the price (only £2.99!) so I went ahead and got this gorgeous dark purple shade I have it on at the moment and it is so amazingly thick and shiny - I love it.
6. OPI Kardashian Kolor - Listen To Your Momanger!
I got this for Christmas 2012 from my best friend, it is a lovely cross between a royal blue and a navy. I love Barry M's navy and thats up there too with my favourites, but I love that this shade is a bit different and not as common.
7. Barry M Gelly Nail Paint - Watermelon
Another new addition to my collection for this season. A dark teal shade perfect fingers and toes and of course it's a Barry M Gelly so it's going to be great, cannot wait to wear it!
8. Collection 2000 Hot Looks Nail Varnish - Shameless
Now I know they aren't called this anymore and have now just settled for "collection" but I did get this a good few years ago and what a bargain it was! From Fragrance Direct it has probably been one of the best beauty bargains I've ever got - it was 25p!!!! Yup, mental eh? It was such a bargain and has been one of my favourite polishes ever since!
9. Models Own - Black Swirl
Now I could have just picked a usual black (as I always rock a black nail in these up coming months) but I love that this one is a little different. I bought it on a whim on ASOS when it was in the sale, I think it was only about £2.50 and I love it! Such a gorgeous black metal-like colour with the slight look of silver in it!
10. Barry M Nail Paint - Grey
I think this is a must for everyones nail polish collection, once again this is a shade I've had for years and years and still love to death! It is an easy go-to colour which goes with so much!

What are some of your favourite Autumn/Winter shades? I definitely want to expand my nail polish collection even more before the end of the year!

Shades For Summer - Nail Polish Favourites

Seeing as June is literally just around the corner which technically does make it "summer" (although I don't actually know if the skies of the UK understand what summer means) I thought I would put together a post for you all showing you my favourite nail polishes for this season.

Summer is a time to put away your blacks and depressing winter colours and make your nails center of attention
Weather it be a bright in your face colour or a super cute pastel I love the fact that in this season anything goes - fingers or toes
I've gone through all my polishes and picked out my favourite and most used colours for the summer months. I made sure there was a good variety of colours and shades because this time of year I am always switching up my colours and I'm normally using more than one at a time! (Rainbow nails are so cool!)
I love matching my nails to oufits and it's always such a good feeling when you find something that is exactly the same colour as a polish you are wearing/own. (or is that just me?)

1. Barry M - 318 Peach Melba
2. Essie - 67 Meet Me At Sunset (mentioned in my colours of the rainbow tag post)
3. Barry M - 301 Block Orange
4. Rimmel Lasting Finish - 030 Drama Queen
5. Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor - Wear Something Spar-Kylie
6. W7 - 14 Fluorescent Pink
7. Barry M - 279 Bright Pink
8. Barry M - 309 Strawberry Ice Cream
9. Barry M - 308 Berry Ice Cream
10. Barry M - 306 Blueberry Ice Cream
11.  Barry M - 294 Cyan Blue
12. Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours - 320 Pop Fiction
13. Rimmel 60 Seconds - 825 Sky High
14. Barry M - 290 Spring Green
15. Rimmel Lasting Finish - 236 Green Grass
16. Barry M - 304 Mint Green
17. Collection 2000 Hot Looks - 14 Boho
18. Nicole for OPI Kardashian Kolor - Rainbow In The S-Kylie

Not sure why a few of the blue shades have decided to look the same in the photos but you can tell by the bottles that they are different!
My favourite thing to do at the moment is to use Rainbow In The S-Kylie (18.) over the top of other colours which makes an amazing confetti effect! At the moment I am wearing strawberry ice cream (8.) with it over the top!
What are your favourite nail polishes for Summer and what brands do you love the most? Mine has to be Barry M (did you guess?)
