My Skincare Routine : Video

I'm back on YouTube! I'm so sorry that there always seems to be such a huge gap between each of my videos... I promise I will get my butt in gear and sort my channel out as much as I can!
Anyway, today I'm talking all about my skincare routine - all those bits and bobs I use on my big round face day and night!

Rodial Super Acids X-treme Pore Shrink Pads Review

Happy Monday (or whatever day you are reading this on), recently I have become a tad bit obsessed with skincare and my skincare routine.
I've never had problems with my skin so when last month my skin decided to unleash a few nastys upon my face I had a right panic and started trying a few new and different products to try and clear it up.
Rodial are a brand that has recently come into my life and for the past few months they have been impressing me with their make-up and skincare ranges!

When I first read "pads" I was a little apprehensive.... I suddenly thought of make-up removing pads which 9 times out of 10 are .. pants! BUT these are for clean, dry, cleansed skin so my feelings soon turned around!

These are too be used twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening and I have been following these guidelines religiously.
I normally use a facial wash in the shower each morning and hot cloth cleanser to remove my make-up in the evening followed by some form of toner on a cotton wool pad, I've just replaced that last step with these pads!
Super Acids X-treme Pore Shrink Pads*

You get 50 pads in a each pot - enough for 25 days (or a month if you forget a few times haha!)
My previous experience with products like these, like I said before, hasn't been great. I've always found pad-type products always dry up really quickly and can be quite abrasive. These are the total opposite!
Each pad feels thick with product and is really soft on the skin! I've been using these all over my face, but avoiding my eye area just because my eyes tend to water with some things.
Even though I use these after removing all my make-up sometimes there is still a bit of make-up/dirt (I'm not dirty but you know what I mean!) on these pads - they really do give you an amazing cleanse.
They leave my skin feeling both cleansed and toned aswell as soft (alot softer than before!) and after using these for the past couple of weeks I have really noticed a difference in my skin.

My pores aren't overly bad anyway but I've noticed my skin has looked the best it has done in a good few months. It looks and feels tighter and my pores look great and they seem to have given me a fab radiant glow. All the spots and blemishes that I had before are now more or less totally gone aswell - liefsaver!
I'm going to be so sad when I run out of these I think I will probably be purchasing another pot one I'm back from my holiday.

The X-treme pore shrink pads are priced at £38 and can be found - here on Rodial's website! Yes £38 is expensive but for me they have really really worked so this is a high end product that I would happily splash out on.

NEW Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel With Active Charcoal Facial Wash

A new product range hit the shelves in Boots recently and in true blogger style I decided to grab them and give them a go - I would be a bad blogger not too right?

Boots have had their Tea Tree & Witch Hazel range for a long while now but they've decided to add to them with these new products with a hint of active charcoal!
There is a wash, scrub and mask in the new collection but so far I've only been able to get the wash and the mask - although to be fair I have lots of scrubs to go through already!
Today I'm going to be talking about the facial wash.
The smell of tea tree immediately takes me back to my childhood and teenage years - the shampoos, the skincare - I swear I was tea tree mad at one point! I really do like the smell because of this, I love to reminisce!

With active charcoal this wash helps to remove impurities and excess oils which is definitely what I have been needing the moment in this weather. My skin has been feeling so grotty and greasy with all this hot and sweaty weather a good detox is what it needs whether it be morning or night.
I have been using this mostly in the mornings in the shower but some days I have been using it as an extra step after removing my make-up in the evenings to give my skin a really deep clean.

The product is black - as you may have already guessed with it being charcoal and all! It is all shiny and pretty and foams up well on the face when warm water is added!
The wash leaves my skin feeling cleansed and smooth and I also think the charcoal has helped to bring out some spots - although this sucks as my skin is normally fin it's better to get them out right?
This has taken the place of all the other facial washes I've had stocked up to choose from in the shower and I tend to keep on using it for a long while!
I'm really looking forward to tying out the mask now, so keep an eye out on here for a review which I'm sure will be up in the next couple of weeks!
The facial wash is only £3.40 and you can find it - here.

Botanics Ultra Calm Gentle Cleansing Cream Review

When things are on offer AND I have vouchers for them aswell it is really really hard for me to say no.
This happened to me recently with the lovely skincare brand Botanics - which is a Boots skincare brand.
In my opinion this is one of the most underrated skincare ranges out there, every product I've tried from them I've been super impressed with and the prices are really reasonable.

So with there being up to 1/2 price of Botanics products at the moment and me having lots of different advantage card offers/vouchers (including even more money off and a free packet of face wipes) I couldn't quite resist picking up a few new products!
The first of these I'm going to talk about is the Gentle Cleansing Cream from the Ultra Calm range.
For months now I have been just taking off my make-up with a hot cloth cleanser, whacking on a toner and sometimes my Nivea soft cream over the top. I thought it was about time I added in a cleanser too!
I have been using this once I've removed my make-up to give my skin an extra cleanse (duh!)
I chose this one for sensitive skin as I've noticed recently alot of thick "anti-ageing" or highly fragranced creams have given me a couple of spots that I do not want on my face so I went for the safe option of the Ultra Calm range.

I was weirdly drawn to the fact that this is made with 'calming marshmallow' - this sounds nice and soothing. (and slightly yummy)
The scent is lovely, simple and fresh and reminds me slightly of suncream, which is a good thing!
I rub gently this onto my dry skin and then remove it with a cotton pad to give my skin a proper deep cleanse after removing my make-up.
I wouldn't use this to remove my make-up alone as I don't think it would do the job properly for me - I'm so used to using hot cloth cleansers that other products never seem to work as well!

My skin has felt refreshed, clean and comforted and I'm really glad I picked this up, another great product from Botanics and I'm looking forward to try out the rest of the ones I picked up!

Face B4 Anti-Bacterial Face Wash & Serum Review

It's time for another review here on A Yellow Brick Blog and today it is a skincare one! So grab a cup of tea, coffee, squash and get comfy!
I have always been fairly lucky with my skin. Never had a bad case of spots and only ever rarely getting one or two obvious ones dotted around my face and bumps/pimples down the side of my face.
Saying this about 4 weeks ago I noticed a small outbreak on my forehead, especially around my hairline - also the rough 'bumps' down each side of my face looking worse than usual! So I couldn't believe my luck when these 2 products came into my life.
Face B4 Anti-Bacterial Face Wash & Serum*
Face B4 is an anti-bacterial regime of daily skincare aiming to reduce skin conditions and help maintain healthy looking, clear skin.
These 2 had my attention from the start - something to help reduce blemishes and redness was definitely what I needed so I jumped straight in and starting using them!
First up, the daily cleansing foam wash. This is a combined cleanser and toner with a dual pump-action nozzle which is super easy to dispense!
I love this idea, no more step after step after step - this is a quick and easy foam you apply to damp skin, massage in and then wash off 60seconds later - simples!
I have been using this every evening after removing my make-up with a hot cloth cleanser. It does say to use this morning and evening but for me it's just been an evening routine as I have other products I use in the shower each morning.
It is really gentle and pretty much scentless, it's really soft and leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean.
Next up is 2 of the FaceB4 regime the anti-bacterial after cleasning serum.
Now I really need to get this off my chest before I start.... I HATE the smell of this stuff - it is rank.
I had to just get that out, because it's the only downfall to these two!

The serum is to be applied to dry skin after the foam wash. I've found 2 pumps is about right to cover my whole face, I pump it onto my fingertips and gently massage it all over until it's been absorbed!
I then follow up with my Nivea soft cream and head to bed!

I've been using this for a few weeks and have been really pleased with the results. The few spots I had on my forehead actually went down in just a couple of days and seemed to have been kept at bay!
Bit gutted you can't tell much of a difference in each of my crappy photos because in real life when I look in the mirror I see such a difference!

The redness of my skin has changed drastically and this is what I've been most happy with. My skin DOES looks clearer and Face B4 has given me a nice natural glow which makes me look healthier and definitely more 'awake'.
If you're having problems with redness and blemishes I'd give this a go, it's so easy and will probably work even better if used both morning and night (which is what I'm going to try now!)
You can find this duo both online at their official site here or at Superdrug/Boots. The foam cleanser is priced at £14.95 and the serum £9.99.
