POTW #34 : Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea Hand Cream

Oooo cheeky US product alert!
I'm am totally and utterly obsessed with Bath & Body Works and their magical aray of beautiful smelling things.
Each time I've been to a store I've just walked in like a kid in a candy store not knowing where on earth to start looking! If it wasn't for luggage allowance I would have bought back thousands of candles and fabulous products but unfortualey for me I could only buy what I knew I could squeeze in.... which wasn't alot :( (you may have spotted this in my Florida Haul!)

This was a must have for me.
Sweet pea is one of my favourite scents from BABW and with the weather taking a turn for the worst back here in the UK I knew hand cream would be one of my go-to products for the next couple of months.
I love having a hand cream with me in my handbag, as well as being a yummy smelling pick me up this stuff helps keeps my hands hydrated - I'm a big over-user of anti-bacterial hand gels and along with the cold weather this sometimes leads them to becoming dry and sore!

With shea butter and vitamin E this cream leaves my hands soft as a baby's behind and with the sweet pea fragrance has them smelling fab for ages after! It's like perfume for my hands!
Not greasy in the slightest and rubs in quick and easy, I'm always re-applying this throughout my work days and am always surprised how long the scent lasts for!
I can't quite remember how much this cost me.... how on I'l do some research online...... *a few minutes later* ... it was $5! Such a bargain! I'm going to have a look online on ebay etc to see i I can order some more of these hand creams in different scents - I love it more than I love Soap & Glory's Hand Food.... that's saying something!

POTW #32 : My Favourite Mascara.... Ever.

Being a 24 year old girl/lady/woman I've been through a fair few mascaras over the last 10 years or so.
After all this time though there is always one that I come crawling back too, one that for me if just the best mascara for my short stumpy lashes!
Maxfactor's Masterpiece Max has probably been out since I was about 17/18 and it is the mascara that I always recommend to anyone that asks me.
It's thin comb like brush is perfect for my short lashes and I find it so easy to use. The older and bolder sister of Maxfactor's original Masterpiece mascara this tube is for giving high volume and definiton in a gorgeous jet black shade.

I try new mascara's all the time and too be honest I don't really know why this is the one which I always call my favourite and come back to in the end!
For £9.99 it is totally reasonable, I think I'll be sticking to this for now - until new mascaras are released for me to try that is haha I jut can't help myself!
If you have small eyes and short lashes I highly recommend you try this out!

POTW #28 : Remington Silk Waving Wand

A few months ago now I was lucky enough to win a fabulous Blog competition that the lovely Ellie was running over on her blog Ellie's Ramblings! (I love this girl!)
What I won was a Remington Silk Waving Wand and finally after weeks and weeks of it sitting in it's pretty box I have got the play with it!
As I've been trying to grow my hair for the past couple of years I'm not one to use heat on it regularly and things like curling and styling my hair I only do when I'm going out somewhere and occasionally on my days off!
Last week I went to a wedding reception so I thought it was the perfect time to get my extensions in and try it out!

I love waving wands, I own the babyliss one aswell and love the results they give! This red little beauty comes with a heat reisitant glove and a heat resisitant storage pouch too! (although I'm normally too lazy to use gloves, I just risk it.... I know - I'm a total adrenaline junkie aren't I!)

I love the digital display and the fact you can change the temperature settings for it- I never like to have it on the highest heat (which on here is 220c), it's pointless or me, my hair will stay put even at a lower setting, plus it's less damaging.
To do my whole head (with my extensions in... which is alot of hair) it probably only took me around 20 minutes or so and that was with alot of sections! The barrell itself feels smooth, alot smoother on my hair than my babyliss one. It's easy to use, I just grab a section of hair about 2/3inches wide , hold the wand upsidedown and wrap the hair around it away from my face! Easy peasy lemon squeazy!

Here's a picture of the results!
I'm looking forward to using this with just my natural hair too, I sometimes get bored of wearing extensions everytime I go out!
Have any of you tried out a waving wand?

POTW #27 : Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion

Over the past year or so I have suddenly developed some really dry patches and irritated skin on my legs, mainly my shins.
I'd never had this before and it had started to become really itchy and uncomfortable for me, I had tried a few products which worked for a while but nothing that really cleared it up.

I'd seen Aveeno products many times before but never really thought to pick them up, until I read a recent review from the lovely Zoe from BeautyPie.
Zoe had popped this product, Aveeno's Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion, in her Tips & Tricks for itchy skin after shaving post (read here) and I loved the sound of it so a couple of days later I went to Boots and happily invested in a bottle for myself.
I went for the larger 300ml sized bottle as even though it is a couple a pounds extra I prefer having a pump action to dispense from than a sqeeuzy tube.

The fact this has shea butter written on the front had me sold even more - I love love love the stuff! This lotion is said to be for extra dry, irritable and sensitive skin... just what I needed for those pesky legs of mine!
I have been using this daily since the day I got it on my legs and the rest of my body and have been so pleased with the results.
There isn't a strong scent to this and it rubs in really quickly, which is great for the monrings when I'm in a hurry!
My legs are no longer itchy and the red bumps which always appeared before are no longer there and hopefully will not return!

This is now on offer in Boots so I'm definitley going to be picking up another bottle of this stuff!

POTW #26 : BUG Jewellery Make A Wish Bracelet

Jewellery isn't something that I include alot of here on A Yellow Brick Blog but this week I just HAD to have a certain bracelet as my POTW!

This was sent to me last week from the lovely (and extremely talented) Ellie from Bug Jewellery. She had approached me and asked if I would like to pick one of her pieces from her BuggedUp jewellery range - after taking forever to decide I went with this Make A Wish bracelet (which is also available as a necklace)
This super cute wishbone bracelet is handcrafted from 925 solid silver and finished in brushed matt. I love silver jewelry and the quality of this is beautiful, the fact they are all handmade my Ellie is just incredible!
This is perfect for everyday wear and make such gorgeous presents, I showed this too my Mum and she also fell in love!

There are so many different designs and nothing like you'd get in your usual highstreet store! I'm in love!
Thank you so much Ellie, I have been wearing this constantly, it's soooo pretty! Hit the link above to find out more about Ellie and her amazing designs!

POTW #25 : The Body Shop Honey Bronzer Powder - Medium Matte

Happy August people - its the 1st, it's a Friday so it's my Product Of The Week time!
A product I've wanted for months is finally mine! Yes a couple of weeks ago I was on the mainland (yes that's what us islanders call it) and hopped into the nearest body shop giving my boyfriend no choice but to traipsed in behind me! Although this trip I knew exactly what I wanted and went straight in for it and managed to leave without picking up anything else - miracle much?
It's the honey bronzer from The Body Shop! I have been looking at reviews/photos etc of this online for ages now but for some reason hadn't picked it up until now!
This product is so pretty I didn't even want to use it at first!
It comes in a lovely brown compact with slight honeycomb pattern, open it up and you get the amazing bronzer!  I choose the medium matte shade. It's quite hard finding a matte bronzer for a cheap(ish) price, the only one I've used alot and love is the one in the sleek contour kit, so this is fab! I thought the light shade would be way too light for me especially with it being summer and hopefully I'll be getting some form of a tan at some point.
A perfect bronzer added to my daily make-up routine! I'm in love with this, so easily blended and can't wait to take it to Florida with me!

POTW #24 : Flamingo Candles Macaroon & Almond High Tea Classic Jar

I'm all about smells. Give me a good smelling product or thing and I'm sold. So of course I'm a crazy woman when it comes to candles! I love love love them!
Recently the lovely people at Flamingo Candles (cute name alert!) asked if I wanted to try out one of their new High Tea candles - a celebration of the great British teatime tradition. (who doesn't love teatime?!)
So this just HAS to be my POTW as I have been burning it constantly!
Quick note - my lighting inside is so rubbish hence the reason why the photos are taken outside .... I don't usually randomly burn candles outside! (obviously)!
Flamingo Candles are handmade, organic candles made with natural cotton wicks and soybeans and are all hand-poured. Snazzy huh?! I like knowing how the candles have been made - seeing this it feels like alot of love goes into making every individual candle.
First, lets talk about this packaging - SO cute. I love the 3D flamingo and the gorgeous 'shabby chic' colouring. It's a total blogger perfect candle visually don't you think?

The scent I have is Macaroon & Almond and it is a beaut! If you like the smell of marzipan then THIS is for you. Luckily for me I love it, it reminds me of Christmas cake - yummy. I could eat marzipan by the strip... am I a freak?
It is really sugary and with hints of cherry and coconut it is perfect for the summer - this has been making my flat smell beautiful!
Now this isn't the strongest smelling candle I've had when it's burning , it does take a while before the scent starts to linger around unlike a couple of other candles I have which give out a fab smell in just a couple of minutes.

It might look small but it has a burning time of 50 hours! I am officially hooked on the unqiue scents and cute packaging and cannot wait for payday, as these candles are only £12 I think Flamingo Candles is going to be getting a visit from a certain blonde blogger *cough*me*cough*!
My current wishlist : Lemon Curd, Green Tea & Lemon, Cheesecake Crunch, Pink Lemonade, Pear Drops & Coconut Lemongrass (not alot then?)

Have you tried any candles from FC yet? Let me know your favourites or scents you would love to try out!

POTW #23 : Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Self Heating Facemask

So, relaxing with a face mask has become quite the weekly routine for me recently. Each Sunday it seems I delve into my exciting drawer full of testers and sachets of things and pick a new mask to try out!
This week it was the return of my fav Montagne Jeunesse brand and their Hot Chocolate self-heating mask.
I love chocolate and I love having nice skin so well this was a total no-brainer!
I'd heard before that this was great and after it being sat in my drawer for a good few weeks I decided it was time to give it a go and chocolate myself up!

This smells sooo nice - obviously! It's cocoa and orange so it's basically like spreading melted Terry's chocolate orange all over your face! I love dark coloured face masks as it's easier to see where you've missed and easier to make it even across your face.
I've used a self-heating mask once before (you may have seen the recent post about it) so I knew what I was letting myself in for.
It only felt really warm when I was in contact with the product rubbing and spreading it across my face and it is was a nice feeling. You can feel your pore's opening up ready for a good cleanse!
After I had applied the chocolatey goodness I pottered around my flat for 10 minutes or so. In this time my boyfriend's mate rocked up (cheers for the warning there) and had a surprise haha! Oh dear!
When the time was up I used a muslin cloth and warm water to remove the mask - which was really easy! I always recommend scraping your hair right back when doing a face mask - it's the worst when it ends up hanging out in your hair not on your face!
My skin felt fresh and cleansed and I followed with a soothing toner and moisturiser. My skin had been feeling really grimey before doing this and I feel like it has really helped cleanse it thoroughly! Bonuses - it smells like chocolate AND it's only £1!

POTW #22 : Rodial Glamstick - Psycho

Hello beautiful people! Hope you are all well and you'r feeling funky, fresh and free!
Once again I'm here talking about my stand out product from the past week and this week it's a certain lippy. (what a surprise right? a lip product! .... I'm sorry guys I'm addicted okay!)

This product was sent to be recently from the lovely people at Rodial and it one of their fabulous Glamsticks!
First up - Glamstick - amazing name and check out the incredible packaging to go along with it!
You can tell that this is slighter higher end product with this packaging, it is beautiful and seriously stands out in my collection, I am totes obsessed!

Glamsticks are Rodial's tinted lip butters and there is a huge range of colours to choose from! Psycho is a gorgeous orangey-coral shade which is perfect for this time of year especially with it's added SPF 15 - no burnt/fried lips for me!  (That happened once... I put vaseline on my my lips at a Festival.... ouch Charlie that was a painful weekend!)

So, moving on from my previous lip disaster... my favourite thing about this butter is the fact it is infused with cocoa butter - one of my favourite ever ingredients/flavours/scents! Not only does it make this product glide on and feel super moisturising but it actually smells amazeballs and keeps your lips really hydrated for hours - high five Rodial I salute you!

The colour is really pigmented and has such an amazing shine and the Hyaluronic Acid Spheres give a long-term plumped look - which I can confirm, works!
So there's another lip product which I'm addicted to using.... I swear my list is becoming endless! The quality of this is amazing - alot better than others I own! I'm tempted to invest in some more - you can find the Glamsticks here - they are £25 each OR you can get a set of 3 Glamsticks for just £25 (saving £50!) which includes Psycho - ummm... bargain!

POTW #21 : TFIOS

Happy Friday my beautiful readers! Thank you for taking the time to come over to here - A Yellow Brick Blog.... I feel like I don't say thank you enough! And don't forget A Yellow Brick Vlog is up and running fully now - 5 videos up and having so much fun doing it!

Anyway that's enough thanking and plugging for one post - it is my Product Of The Week time once again - how on earth are we at #21 already, these weeks to seem to float by month after month after month, we are in July - the wrong side of the year!
Sorry you beauty lovers but this week I have a non-product product!

As you can probably tell by the title of this post - it is a book/movie - duh!
Yes it is the ever popular and totally emotional damaging The Fault In Our Stars.
I've had this on my kindle for god knows how many months and with the film coming out I just had to knuckle down and read it before I saw it.
In the end it took me less than 48 hours to read it - when I want too I can read alot and fast!

It was brilliant, laugh out loud funny and hysterically-crying sad all at the same time - and then 2 days later I went and saw the movie.
A fantastic construction of John Green's amazing words and ideas, it broke my heart all over again!
There were a couple of scenes which I think would have been really powerful acted out but unfortunately they seemed to have missed the cut which was a shame!

I urge you all to go and read the book/see the movie - I think the 2 friends I took to the cinema with me STILL have puffy eyes from all the emotions!

You may have seen this in my Boots Haul video I uploaded last week! This is one of the Rita Ora lip crayon from Rimmel and I had been eyeing it up for a while!

It is a gorgeous barbie bubblegum pink shade - perfect for summer! Lip crayons are my favourite at the moment, fab colour, great pigmentation and super hydrating and smooth! One of my top go-to colours at the moment ... so tempted to get some more of these Rimmel beauts.....

POTW #19 : Nip + Fab Yoga Blend Body Scrub

Scrubs are so essential to me when it comes to summer! Everyone wants soft, fresh skin especially when it comes to getting that all important tan and I am no different!
I have started prepping my body for sun worshipping lately.... Not that I know when I'm going to be able to do this apart from my holiday in September but like my old teacher always used to say "fail to prepare and prepare to fail!"

So I've been using all sort of products, potions and tools to try and get my body/skin/feet/face ready for the sunshine and this product in particular has been a major favourite of mine

This is the Yoga Blend Body Scrub* from Nip + Fab, a brand which I have been trying out a few products from recently!
This has been sat in my shower for the past week and I have been loving it!
Normally I tend to avoid products with lavender as one of the main ingredients, as I used to hate it as a kid - but funnily enough now I've grown up a little the smell is slightly more bareable to me and I actually really love this!
Coconut & Rose aswell ... yum!
This stuff says it is to help you unwind and de-stress - I can confirm... it works!

The scent is so relaxing and calming - perfect for both morning and evening showers! The scrub isn't overly harsh and abrasive but it definitely does the job, leaving my skin soft and a lot smoother than before.
This has been great for the annoying bumps on the backs of my arms - especially with the hot weather and wearing less clothing!
This is a new favourite of mine and am sooo happy I've found it at the beginning of summer so my skin is all snazzy for the hot months and my holiday!!

Nip + Fab I'm giving you a high five here for this one - good job!
